Do you like the movie Scream or is it overrated?

I don’t like how literally all of them are the same just with a small cast change. 1 and 2 were actually the same movie, oh, there two killers this time, waowzah! They were alright but they’re not even remotely close to James Cameron’s Avatar quality. Excluding my conga series which has premiered yet, Avatar is probably one of, if not the best movie franchises of modern times or even history. Nostalgia is not a factor so all them folks who are raging over my comment and are about to say Land Before Time or something is better, take a step back before the fire wall is crossed.

I have not watched any variant of the movie in years and I don't like scary movies, even if they aren't actually scary. I only like kiddie scares like Jurassic Park. When I used to watch Queen of the South, I would read the plot ahead of time so I would feel less afraid when I watched the movie.

Well the movie is older than you and you're talking about it. Can't be that overrated can it.

What made that movie great was it took scary movie and made it about the genre while telling a story. Not to mention right out of the chute it kills of A list actress Drew Barrymore. Right out of the gate you're going, "WTF? You can't kill off Drew in the first 10 minutes". This this movie also gave us Neve Campbell. Even though her celebrity was pretty short lived she was a Hollywood it girl for a minute. Long enough to give us interest in the movie "Wild Things" which gave us Denise Richards. Which if you ask me is the more superior of the two films. Of course, I'm biased.😂 I do not care for scary movies and I've always like Denise Richards.

The original is one of the best horror movies of all time when you factor in when it was made. It was way ahead of its time in the fact that it was not only an interesting film with a good plot twist on 2 killers pretending to be just , but it also made fun of the horror movie genre and called out other movies for how lame the writing can be. For example the virgin always lives till the end is a classic horror movie plot line that gets made of along with so many others

I liked them, they're kinda paroding the slasher horror genre but its entertaining, though after 6 movies the villain reveals are not surprising anymore. The trophe is always similar: a masked villain appears and kills one by one and the protagonists are playing detectives on who it is and at the end we get a "surprising" reveal. Its always someone who was either jealous of someone's fame, a relative of the last defeated villain seeking vengeance or similar. The 6. movie with Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega was pretty entertaining. I liked part 1, 4 and 6 the most

I only saw the two most recent ones and my god were they bad. Entertaining for sure, but a textbook example of how not to write fights and dialogue. The only convincing acting was from Jenna Ortega. The rest was very "by-the-mark" you could see the moments where they yelled "action" and "cut". It wasn't fluid or organic.

So in a way I did like the movies. They did throw some clever sataire in but they are without a doubt overrated.

Which one? There were like 4 of them in the line of Scream movies. I would say the original was best as you had no idea what was coming. In the sequels you knew.
