If an actress/actor, author, musician/band/artist ect has done something either morally bad/illegal do you stop listening/watching/buying their stuff?

So I've gotten told I'm a bad person recently, for enjoying harry potter, liking Micheal Jackson, and enjoying Johnny Depp movies. Whereas I simply think if the movie/music/book is good I'm going to enjoy it, it doesn't matter what that person has done in their past or present.

Because the memories I've associated with that thing are completely different. Like in year 5 ages 9-10, 2-3 times a week my teacher would play ABC Jackson 5, it was the tidy up song and if we finished before it ended we can dance and run around the classroom, we'd also grab various things that make noises around the classroom to shake shake shake, to the song.

Nah, I separate the art from the artist. R Kelly is always my #1 R&B singer. I’ve known he was a creep since I was in high school, lmao, he married Aaliyah, who was exactly my age, and she wasn’t even on her “Sexy Aaliyah” thing yet, she was still doing the “hey, this 14 year old girl can sing!” thing, she just had that Back And Forth song. Kels was already a grown ass man, he was in his 20s, we were like “what the fuck? Oh well…. Bump N Grind goes hard.” The tape of him taking a whizz on the teenager came out when I was in college, and I wasn’t even that surprised. Honestly, I haven’t even caught up on all the newer stuff, but it sounds like it finally caught up to him and he’s off to the clink. Sounds like it was pretty bad, but honestly, I don’t even need the details, I already wouldn’t leave any woman I cared about alone with him.

If you like J. K. Rowling, Michael Jackson, and Johnny Depp then that's fine its your choice, I'm willing to bet that those criticising you are of a certain ideology, and that is their problem not yours, they are the sheep not wanting to have any thoughts that the rest of the flock do not.
They do not like J. K. Rowling because she has said that 'transwomen' are not women, and is against 'transwomen' in women's sport etc.
They do not like Johnny Depp because he stood up to Amber Heard and showed her up in court showing her to be a liar.
As for what their beef is with Michael Jackson god alone knows.

I looked into it and it was very childlike in nature certainly weird but once you dig deeper and deeper into it all it doesn't sound malicious. But there were allegations of him being a child molester and often sleeping in beds with young boys. Sleeping with young boys did happen but it wasn't sexual, and he'd invite the whole family to his complex to hang out often without him even being there - which is where you can clearly see he's on tour. But for years these boys looked up to him like a big brother and even years after his death still stuck by that then one day came up with these allegations. I didn't spend days and days like some people, I only looked for about an hour. But the more you piece it together, the more off key it sounds.

What they intimated with Michael Jackson is the same kind if BS that single fathers have to deal with, I've had the same kind of thing when I looked after my nieces and nephews, there'll always be someone who thinks that single guys should not be caring for their own children or the junior members of their families.

You can enjoy art without enjoying the artist. People these days will have a tantrum over everything and try to control what you’re allowed to like and dislike. I enjoy music from bands, singers etc, who have bad pasts and have done some not-so-great things. But when people tell me “you can’t listen to them because….” Or “you can’t like their music because they’re problematic!” Honestly who cares. It’s not hard to separate the art from the artist. I enjoy what they’ve created, I don’t enjoy who they are as a person.

I mean, I care if I'm showing my support to people who've done something that I find fundamentally wrong. It is hard to separate the art from the artist - since the art is the product of the artist, and enjoying the art is supporting the artist.

That's fine but where do you draw the line? What if someone you hate has a 20% share in something you love, is that a reason to stop liking/stop buying the thing you love. I mean you're still filling the one you hate pockets?

What about the example I gave where the person does something morally wrong but not illegal and they have 1000s of shares is it just them personally you'll stop enjoying or all the pies they have their fingers in as well that's still adding to their net wealth.

I'll stop supporting the artist - that includes sharing, buying and even watch/read/listen to them/their pieces since all of that shows support to the artist themselves and ultimately adds to not only their net wealth but also their increases their platform. Not that it matters for many of them - they're well set with their net worth + platform.

The author said a woman is a woman and a man is not a woman. Apparently there's other things she said but I didn't bother looking into it, but she's got a lot of hate and a lot of the HP cast has done personal statements saying her views are not their views and if you're LGBTQ+ you can still enjoy it cause they didn't support her.

I get what your saying honestly. There is a line I would say and it differs between people. I guess part of it depends on what they have done.

For the most part I don't often know much if anything about the creator of some form of creative art. But like you I enjoy the Harry potter universe and there is a lot of controversy. I don't really know the full story about Rowling. But I still like the books.
