I remebered when i was working in theaters, these young ladies sneaked their way into the movie aaand I couldn't leave my post to tell them I said their movie is behind me. Also remember how many said it is a horrible movie because it sexualizes... abuse? So if you know the series or seen the movies... is it a movie that's just different and has salty commentators or actually a series that shouldn't be glorified?

It is horrible. Sort of what a teenage girl might dream up fantasizing without any real life experience if her main kink was emotional abuse.

Ana is your boiler-plate uninteresting character to enable an easier self-insert. Blank slate. Its the template for most porn for women, so I suppose it is fine. But she is *very* uninteresting.

Christian Grey is... an overgrown child with no depth, no responsibility, no assertiveness, and an affront to anything a responsible dominant should be. And its not as if his inability to plan, care, be adult or show consideration for her wellbeing would make it worse. Not at all. Seeing the love and care that goes into making her his' would probably make it watchable.

I'd say if you know absolutely nothing about any form of bdsm and have never experienced a good relationship, it might seem appealing. Maybe. If you have its basically poorly executed comedy where the punchline is to repeatedly be bad at what you do, refuse to learn how to do it, and let someone else suffer the consequences of your incompetence. About that funny. So not very.

Its not that Mr. Grey is a sadist that is bad. I have those tendencies myself at times. I have no issue with wanting to hurt someone because it gives you pleasure or for them to be yours. Its that he isn't a sadist and he absolutely is not a dom. He is an overgrown baby who desperately needs to flail around and clumsily gaslight Ana so he can feel validated. I am convinced he can't possibly appeal to any women who want a dom of any sort because all he is, is a brat allowed to be irresponsible with someone else's life and without the mental capacity to understand his own, uninteresting and failing, character.

But well. Looking at this. I suppose 50 shades is rather anger inducing. For what it is worth I never met anyone in kink who has anything but contempt for it.

I ready the first book. It was disappointing. I tried to read the second book, and I couldn’t finish it.


The movie though was even more disappointing than the book. It was waaay overhyped.


But, I think it caught traction because it was basically a poorly-written spinoff of the Twilight series. Plus, it had kink — which wasn’t very mainstream — so that was a novelty.


And anybody who was actually a part of the BDSM community was disappointed in the inaccurate portrayal of BDSM.


It’s always supposed to be safe, sane, and consensual.


Christian Grey was not only wasn’t a proper Dominant but he was straight up abusive and manipulative — which isn’t condoned by the BDSM community.

From what I saw, it was very unrealistic. It reminded me of one of those books old ladies read. Like a Mills & Boon.
