Why is it that media can be targeted at women and it's all good but when a show or a movie is targeted at men and it becomes popular it's a problem?

Disney bought Star Wars and Marvel mainly to strengthen their appeal to men because they already had many IPs that were targeted at women and girls. But instead of buying into the strength of the IP and what made it great in the first place they started to change Star Wars and Marvel to try and appeal more to women.

There's enough content for women isn't there? Do you personally feel like there's not enough entertainment content for women? So why is it a problem if there's entertainment that is made for men? Women can still watch it if they want to but it doesn't need to be changed for women. I watch stuff with female leads too, I even watch shows mainly made for women and I don't start complaining that this show is sexist because there's too much romance in it or something or because all the male lead is unrealistically rich. I might poke fun at it a bit but not in a bitter way.

I just don't understand why people can't just watch what appeals to them no matter if the lead character had their gender or ethnicity and let other people watch what they want too.

by the way 65% of the audience for The Marvels were still men even with all this women didn't show up. But they managed to make so many men not care anymore that their audience just shrunk. Men left but no women showed up to replace them.

These were literally the two biggest franchises in the history of movies and now people are not excited at all anymore. Isn't that sad?

Look at who's claiming it's a problem. Star Wars and Marvel were both bought by Disney, a company that was seen, at least, as having a solid female audience via the "princess" route; logically, both those new brands would've been perfect to bring in more boys, since they both held stronger appeal in those markets.

Problem is, the people deciding what was to be done with the franchises weren't motivated by storytelling and stewardship of a franchise OR cynical pursuit of profits, but of pushing their political ideas.

something else might be more likely... generations... newer generations just don't care that much about old franchises like Marvel comics and Star Wars, sci-fi

most kids and youngsters don't really care for these at all... lol

the people that really care for these two are old people, people at their 30, 40, 50, even 60 year olds... and then you have two issues with this

first, you're getting them tired... there's just way way way too many Marvel movies and all of them rushed too, and the more you overdo this the more desperate you get and try to come up with new stuff that people never asked for, old people usually don't want new stuff, they want their old stuff as they knew it, enjoyed it and fell in love with it...

and the want quality because they know quality...

I don't think so. The hype for the new Star Wars movies was huge until people actually saw them. It became like the 4th highest grossing movie of all time just based on name alone. And Marvel was also so successful they just needed some good writing after endgame to keep people interested but they completely blew it. But I don't think the fatigue was that high that it was impossible to salvage. If the quality had been there then people would have kept coming back.

well, that fatigue that I meant... is fatigue over low quality, and also drastic changes that do not adapt to the older "canon" or the things that were way more popular with the past story lines

Meh when u work out that most things are not made to be good but to sell at that point u stop caring about this type of stuff anything u like can and will be ruined in the attempt to make a quick buck

That is true but they're not even making money of this. I'd rather if a company made money and I'd be entertained and it's a win win instead of a lose lose.

No they didn't because their venture didn't work but that the point they truly believed it would franchises will be gutted in the attempt to appeal to the audiences that are not turning up

I think the reason people aren't excited about Marvel is because they made too many damn movies in general, and now we're all sick of them.

I do understand your point, though.
