Yes and have done that, going to the Proms for dates is really good, as it gives you a lead in to the next Prom. A classical orchestra also plays a wide range of music and with the Proms you get a huge variation. From full on classical to Northern Soul to Ibiza to the Last Night.

If you're thinking of My Chemical Romance, that's not midwest emo. This genre is about dudes with raspy voices singing symbolic lyrics, with the backing of experimental instrumentals. You could also call it asbury park indie or modern rock. Didn't die out in 2008, the genre is very much alive.

Classical simply bores me. I recognise it's a genre that has stood the test of time, but I don't care for it. Or it's pretentious fans who pity others for listening to modern music. Ergo: you.
