I don't support it at all... I mean what are you paying for if you don't own it? Why would I want to buy the game and trust the creators that I will be able to use it in the future when that might not happen? Only if there is no other option would I consider it, as I would much rather have it ☠️ed forever. "You'll own nothing and be happy" does not apply to me as of now.

Thankfully not all studios are this way and there are some great indies out there. A good example of this in practice, Final Fantasy 14 wants you to pay 60 dollar for their base game and also pay for the dlc but you have to pay a subscription on top of it.

They are sort of right, I use Steam and had a major problem a couple of years ago, my steam account was pretty much bricked. Not hacked or anything, just something was wrong with it. Support was pathetic, when I eventually had a call with them, I was basically told if you lose your account you lose your games. A lot of streaming platforms are like this, if you close your streaming account you lose the games attached to it or rather you might.

They are definitely right on that part if you lose an account to steam you lose the games but he is talking about subscription based models for games that is not the norm anyone should want. I also understand some people like console to have physical copies of their games etc

There are a couple of subscription models out and more likely due out, rather than have a Pass for next xx releases they want to charge a subscription, it’s theft really as it means they release basic stuff to keep a game going

It's all in the DRM codes they put in the games to prevent piracy. Piracy can still be done with those games if you manage to somehow trick that software to think it is getting access to the servers.

It's fucked up. Buying something should be able to keep the model of having a copy of a digital game that can be saved on your own system or moved to an external drive that can be used on the system (which is essentially the same as a disk). A subscription service that won’t let you play offline is renting. Yes, I do understand that after a while, unless you save a game to either your system or an external hard drive, you can lose the game but what he's saying is ridiculous.

Really, I think he’s talking about burning a copy for a friend. I’ve never had a problem with Steam or Ubisoft. Once I buy a game online it’s mine. I’ve had trouble with reinstalls and lost verification numbers. But usually a quick two day email exchange and I’m back. Bullshit. But I get the issue.
