Case Logic CD30 portable case

I went most places with a Case Logic 30-CD case, but I usually only had 28 CDs in it, because I used one of the double-slots for my Sony D-25 CD player, which, when it was released in 1986, was shockingly small (smaller than 2 jewel cases). Though portable CD players did get a *little* smaller over the years, they also dropped in build quality significantly.

This thing sounded amazingly good, as this was back when sound quality was considered to be super-important, and it was the first Discman model to have a 16-bit DAC (early CD players only had a 14-bit DAC, even though the CD format has always been 16-bit - the cost of 16-bit DACs was just too high in 1983).

It didn't have CD Text, anti-shock protection (which Sony called ESP), optical output, MP3 or ATRAC playback, or any of the newer features that came later, but it was an all-metal (mostly magnesium) case, direct-drive motor (no rubber belts to deteriorate), had a rechargeable battery (I think it was still Ni-Cad, though), and supported both wired and wireless remotes. There was even a shock-resistant platform with a gooseneck mounting arm for the car that you could dock it into - which I had, because in-dash CD players were insanely expensive in 1986. This was the period when Sony was mostly hitting home runs, and running circles around everyone else.

The hardest part was deciding which 28 CDs went in that Case Logic case. About half almost never left, and the other half got swapped out fairly often.

i only had 3 cds. in the 1990's yanni instrumental music. my tape player broke and i did not replace it.

In the 90s I was too young to own cds. I didn't start owning cds until the 00s. I can't remember how many I had. Maybe 10 to 15.

Those are nothing to my '80s CD collection which are over a thousand.
