King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer (undisclosed what type). Will he abdicate? Do you hope he will?
I think we might have a regency, possibly like when George III went a bit mad. It’s that or yes he could abdicate. I think the decision point will be if he can do DDay 80 or not. If he can’t do that, then his public duties will have to be carried by William, Anne, Sophie.

His grandfather didn't. If Charles is as stubborn as him he'll keep going until he drops. Also it depends on the kind of cancer. People seem to think it's all the same - which it isn't. It's a classification of disease, not a single disease. That's why chemotherapy or radiotherapy isn't always effective.
I think it is kind of funny because he just became king and he always wanted to be king. I guess it is karma coming for him. I don't think he will abdicate not unless it becomes terminal at least.

If anything it might be smart for him too. William seems way more competent and likeable anyway
No.
First, there are no signs that he is terminal and that he cannot perform his duties.
Second, if he is terminal, few duties require the King or Queen anyway, so I believe he'd let Nature take its course; William will get the Crown sooner or later.
no, he'll die as king, and his son will take over most likely as King William V, but he could choose any of his given names: William Arthur, Phillip Louis, so he could actually choose to be King Arthur!
My money is 70% William V or 30% Philip after his grandfather.Too early I would suggest. If there was a problem in performing his constitutional roles that could be awkward. I think William will be a good monarch.
I'm leaning no but i think William will be handling more of his duties accordingly with this diagnosis
No. He will be like his late mother and soldier on until unable to.
I am not a UK citizen but I think the King is a far shadow of Queen Elizabeth. If the king did abdicate it would be a good thing.
If he reaches an advanced stage and is considered terminal, he will. As an American, the British Royalty doesn't mean much to me.
No. That's not how they do it. According to the royals they are God's anointed Monarch. He will die king, his son may become regent.
He's waited too long to be king, I doubt he'll give it up just yet.
Yeah, get some of that smashing doozy action. 70 million in line to the throne.
Probably later this year, dep ending on the cancer.(His Majesty looked quite unwell during his May 6 coronation, and his distended fingers seem to be a symptom of heart trouble.)
I doubt he'll abdicate. His mother was Queen for 74 years. I don't believe he's been King for even 74 weeks.
Nope. He’s had to wait a long time. Unless he’s permanently unable to do any required duties, he will not abdicate.
Why would he if he survives. From what I heard, those positions don’t hold real power, so why abdicate something that is mostly for show?
Apparently prostate cancer, and if so, treatable usually.
Why would he? He just stays king till he dies.
He waited so long to be king, he won't give that up in a hurry.
How in the flying fuck do we still have these cartoon characters in 2024? LOL
He is not going anywhere till he is carried out.
