What’s your go-to karaoke song? Do you sing drunk or sober?

LOVE KARAOKE, lmao. A couple adult beverages in me, making a spectacle of myself? That’s all me right there😂
So, you gotta read the crowd, first of all. Sing something that they’ll probably know and not hate. The other big thing is to not choose a song I don’t already know by heart. If you have to read the lyrics as you sing, you’re done, if you care about giving a good performance. The great thing about karaoke though, is that it’s for fun and not a competition, so sing whatever you want, how you want, haha. I just personally like to live my rockstar dreams out, I love having random people come up to me afterwards telling me I was good😝
I’m somewhere in that range between “good bad singer” and “bad good singer”, so I can do a little bit. I have a bit of a deeper voice, so I’m best singing a little lower. I wish I could be a better tenor, it would open up so many more options, but I just don’t have full range. I can pull off some things, but other stuff, my voice will crack or fail😂
One song I do pretty well, due to the deeper voice, is Let Her Cry by Hootie And The Blowfish….
https://www.youtube.com/embed/1aVHLL5egRYI can be a pretty good poor man’s Eddie Vedder and do a solid rendition of Pearl Jam’s “Black” as well.
I do have certain songs I can pull off in tenor though. Depends on what notes I have to hit, haha, or how strongly I have to hit them.
Nice & Slow by Usher is DEFINITELY one of my strongest songs. As an added bonus, I have the same amount of letters so I can spell my full name out instead of his during that quick rap part he has😝 “They call me U-S…H-E-R…/S-T…E-V-E…”
https://www.youtube.com/embed/DIpQ4AZSAf8I can do a good Fill Me In by Craig David too, if anyone remembers that…
https://www.youtube.com/embed/3imO7PFU5cIEven throwback-ier, Poison by Bell Biv Devoe, I MURDER that.
If it’s a poppier crowd, a little cliché, but you can’t go wrong with I Want It That Way, plus I can kind of alter my voice to imitate each guy’s part…
https://www.youtube.com/embed/4fndeDfaWCgBackstreet is always a crowd-pleaser, lmao.
BUT…. my favorite, if the crowd is right, and I’m feeling it…. I will RIP some falsetto.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/0Qz_b1di3i8Last time I did that one, the crowd WASN’T really right…. but the DJ stopped and played the real song for a second and said “I just want you all to realize what he was doing there”, and I really appreciated that😂
Some other honorable mentions: Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger is great for a crowd of middle aged “hard-H” hhhhhhWhites😂 ; Regulator by Nate Dogg & Warren G; Twisted by Keith Sweat; another falsetto song Hey There Lonely Girl by Eddie Holman; I do a TREMENDOUS “Margaritaville”; Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling In Love” if I’m in a crooning mood; Alone by Staind if I’m feeling emo lmao; and Bust A Move or Gin N Juice are both party classics that can get the crowd going.
My lady is my main audience support, and she’s been sick a long time so I haven’t been out for karaoke in over ten years, but I can rap/sing in a reasonable facsimile of Drake, so imagine how much uncharted material is still out there, lmao. You can have some fun with that too, because I don’t think anyone takes Drake all that seriously😂
Oh, and my dream, if I could ever get a woman to adequately play the female part (my girlfriend doesn’t karaoke🤦♂️🙄), I would love to do I Got A Man by Positive K. Haven’t done that since a junior high field trip with one of my 8th grade girlfriends. I had the cassette single and this kid Craig brought a boom box😂
https://www.youtube.com/embed/VvYIpa1Ulvw Wow😳
You are professional
Great songs collection👍🏻👍🏻
I love Backstreet Boys song ❤️
And Usher song❤️
Sorry about your girlfriend, i hope she gets better
Say “hi”from me🙂🙂
Haha, yeah, I like to think I have a little bit of stage presence, so I have fun with it but also try to be the best of the night. About 20 years ago when I was a bouncer, we had a karaoke night, and unfortunately the kid they paid DJ was in a car accident and died. It paid twice as much as my night of bouncing, and the owner asked me to DJ it, so I was all over it. It was a very slow night, so I’d just sing a lot to keep the vibe going and inspire others to sign up. It was a lot of our employees on their night off, so I had a friendly crowd, haha.
One more song I just remembered from the dad-rock collection was Glycerine by Bush, which I only bother adding because it’s kind of funny, in that I have to be sure I’m not going to sing again. I make my voice intentionally scratchy to sound like Gavin Rossdale, and I can’t sing right after that, or I’ll even have a little trouble talking😂 Clears up in a couple hours, but I have to make a commitment to do that song, haha

And thank you! I’ll for sure pass along the well-wishes🙏🙏🙏
if I want to impress...
if I want to have fun...
if I want to get everyone dancing...
if I want people to say wtf...
if I ever did drunk karaoke I know I would... lol (never tried it before)
Wow, you will be epic in all of them❤️❤️
I feel jelly, you know Spanish
Don’t drink and do karaoke😁😁
lmao...
and yes I do speak some Spanish... lol
Despacito my favorite one
Such a great song
But, i liked the first one on second place😊
Despacito is one that a lot of people either love to have fun with... or they hate it, get up and walk away...
but if they do... then I go and follow them, lmao
No, it's a very energetic song, I love it❤️🙂
But, the version with no Justin Bieber in it🙃
I really want to hear the JINJER one!
@GuyAnswersGirls123 well... the garage band I used to front with, they're no longer playing together lmao...
but you do play some, don't you?
@elena_stewart lol... right
I forget there was a version with him, but I never really heard that one much around here
@NathanDavis Me? No, I never managed to try getting in a band and lack any real skill in an instrument besides maybe piano/keyboard, and still very limited there. I did used to make little songs for video games on my MIDI keyboard but that's about it. Would have loved to have learned how to play bass guitar and play in a band if I did my life over again.
@GuyAnswersGirls123 yes... I remember that
and that can be enough, we're going to kill it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U45NfWSX-Vk
Nice!
Baby Metal haha. I couldn't imagine that being attempted. I'd like to see someone try Michael Jackson or Robert Plant. Someday I may try the latter.
@Sharkstealth I could definitely do some Billie Jean
@Sharkstealth I tend to do a very poor Michael Jackson impression singing his songs by just putting random, "Cha!", "Shamoh!", "Heeeheeeeee!" into it.
@NathanDavis Nice! Billie Jean is my fave too, although I'm not very good at singing it.
I thought Bieber did despicito for some reason.
@NathanDavis too many offers for karaoke, you need to make up your mind and pick or do a karaoke night with all these songs😁
by the way, I love Billie Jean❤️
@elena_stewart well, everyone else better go first... because I'll take over and it won't be a short list now... lol
👍🏻👍🏻😊
so...
Miss @elena_stewart
which one are you going to delight us with?
@NathanDavis This one my favorite

https://youtu.be/UxcCSnGXTuo?si=xa21atBl3lgYJKd6
that a great pick... one of my favorite songs from her
https://youtu.be/DfyeavCwNac?t=48
I sing it really good, that’s what I have been told😊
This is my last one
https://youtu.be/lWA2pjMjpBs?si=2Mb5OK5qZaRMZoCU
what about this one... my favorite of hers?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V91daEbU_8s
I could join you for this one... lol
Those ones seem fun to sing! I like selecting Work sometimes when I'm in a particular mood. "Na na na na na na na na, dirt dirt dirt dirt dirt, work work work work work, na na na na na, work work work work, he see put in work work work work work..." 😅
I love it❤️❤️
We will great together❤️❤️
Lol
Be great*
@GuyAnswersGirls123 She is an amazing singer, my favorite🙂

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVjiKRfKpPI

"Karaoke" is Japanese for "empty orchestra" (or so I'm told), and such is the level of my musical proficiency that, were I to attempt it, it would be less "empty orchestra" and more "empty karaoke bar" (which I don't know how to say in Japanese).
That said, I DO make plans for what I'd do if I found myself in that situation. To that end, the Champs' Tequila.
Maybe Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison. I've got that one down. It's easy.
My wife and I had some friends who had a karaoke machine and LOTS of karaoke CDs. They had about four karaoke parties a year up until covid freaked them out in 2020.
I was lead guitar and vocals in rock bands from age 17 to my early 30s. I started playing again and formed a band in about 2010.
But that couple had karaoke songs that I had never thought about singing before. I discovered that I could sing all kinds of stuff really well, and some of that stuff was from way before my time.
For instance, I discovered that I could sing Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Elvis, Bobby Darin, Ben E. King, and 60s pop songs. Go figure.
One time I tried Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin and killed it. I can sing it just like him. So that's another song I might surprise people with at karaoke. LMAO.
I prefer 60s/70s/80s rock. So I could choose lots of songs. My voice is baritone these days, so I gravitate toward singers like Jim Morrison, Tom Petty, etc.
I don't have to be drunk, but singing karaoke it lots more fun when I am. It gives me an "I don't give a fuck" attitude and I can ham it up. Like when singing something like When a Man Love a Woman by Percy Sledge with James Brown theatrics.
That is awsome🙂
Did your friends resume the karaoke parties or not anymore?
Gotcha
Oh I love singing and can sing just like Elvis. Literally. I can nail Elvis. The King, baby! My go to starters are Hound Dog and Suspicious Minds. And I'm not like others, I don't need to drink to sing. I like singing. I like people hearing my singing. I am skilled at singing. I like the compliments. Singing has even gotten me laid quite a few times, in several different countries. LOL.
Good for you then🙂
My personal favorite:
I love going, "Mmmmhhhhrrrmm! Yeaaah--hyarrghhh! Holy Divaaaa!"
I used to always be at least slightly drunk but I just recently tried it completely sober over Christmas. Felt a bit nerve-wracking at first but I got settled in pretty quickly.
"The vision never daiiiiayaaaiees! Life's a never-ending wheeeeeeeelllllll! Yeah!" 🎶
Interesting song, I like it👍🏻👍🏻
It's a very one to sing. Some of my other faves include "Hello" from Adele, "I Will Always Love You" from Whitney Houston, and Chained to the Rhythm from Katy Perry. That last one is really fun to sing. "Arreee yoouuuu lonnnneellllyyy, up there in utoppiiiaaa" 🎶 I like those types that really let us go all out with the vibratos.

* very fun
I have to be drunk completely to do karaoke. Even then I'm not sure I would do it. But I do enjoy singing Red Solo cup holding a red solo cup when drunk
Ok😁😁
Nice song🙂
😁😁
Great song.
RIP & God Bless Toby Keith
@LongJohnShiver I know I was so sad to hear he passed. One of the greats
@elena_stewart I Can Do Many Female Singers Having Done Manyyyy Karaokes Throughout My Years. My Favorite was Any Karen Carpenter. Song God Rest Her Soul. xxoo
Me too, doing it sober, never been drunk🫶🏻
well as long as i know the song i don't care but i tend to avoid rap songs if possible, i prefer rock or pop but like i said as long as i know the song i am good at everything.
Me too, sometimes I pick the perfect song for karaoke but I forget about the really fast rap part in the middle😁
i'm catious of those. i can sing ''stay this way'' from from ashes to new but the rap part kills me.
but there are some anime character themed rap songs some youtubers makes themselves, i can sing them even the rap parts are not that hard with them, like ban song- foc sin, king song-bear sin, itachi song auburn crown, kakashi song- a thousand reasons, sasuke songs- so cold, beyond human, feel alive, rustage.
This is it.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ha3SSgWK-oENice song🙂
I do not sing karaoke probably because i do not drink.
Me too😁
Well I have never done karaoke but last night I was singing tears for fears songs taking a shower. The steam actually helped my voice hold the correct sounding notes instead of cracking them. 👍🙂
Mariachi music or Banda, I know a decent amount of songs just get me drunk before taking me.
oh... I am joining you instead
which ones?
@NathanDavis instead of what? lol
Love anything with Carin Leon, grupo frontera, fuerza rígida, banda ms, Vicente, Javier Solís, Pedro infante, Christian nodal, rocio durcal, Jenni Rivera, and Lola Beltran.
I definitely am joining you for karaoke on Mariachi and Banda... instead of the ones I picked at my own answer post, lol
and this one we will go with... first, and last too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XkoO6oOy2g
oh yeah, I'm not forgetting the...
@NathanDavis lol okay, do you listen to Banda and go to bailes?
I know them and have had them from the endless BBQ's and parties, here in Mexico and Texas...
to bailes, I have been to as well... but with a certain circle of friends, haha
and every single wedding as well... lmao
Hasta La Miel Amarga... 🎵🎶🪗🎻
not drinking too much though... otherwise, it might come out... Pennywise
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHHorcBOUkc
I once got a standing ovation for Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N Rose's. Usually to test the waters I do Basket Case by Green Day. One day I would like to try a Robert Plant song.
Oh and I rarely drink now. Most of the time I can barely stand to be in the bar so I leave. I think drunk people are annoying.
my voice is not good, so I choose songs that everyone sings along with like Sweet Caroline or Don't Stop Believing
Anaconda, man down, part of your world, Stan
Drunk for sure but Drake - Jungle lmaoo
Lol😁
How to save a Life. By The Fray
A very lovely song🙂
