Oh, plenty.
The one that really comes to mind is "Get Together" by The Youngbloods originally released in 1967 but then re-released in 1969 becoming a major hit. The original was called "Let's Get Together" by Chet Powers aka "Dino Valenti".

That The Youngbloods cover song is a standard that you will hear on any radio station focused on classic rock aka 1960s and 1970s rock. For instance, you'd hear this on SiriusXM's "60s Gold" (Channel 73) which was originally "60s on 6" (Channel 6) until this past year.

  Also, "Do You Wanna Touch?" by Joan Jett. Hers is much more energized than the original by Gary Glitter's original. I think it's Joan's best song. It's an anthem the way she performs this song. It was great on early MTV.

  "I Just Wanna Make Love To You" by Willie Dixon and later by Muddy Waters.
  The live version by Foghat from 1977's "Foghat Live" is, to me, their best song.

  As you can hear, it's a very bluesy song.
  
  Foghat specialized in making "boogie" music. One interpretation was blues rock.
  Here is the live version which definitely rocks while still retaining its essential blues nature without sounding like a blues song.

Yes, this Janis Joplin version of "Piece of My Heart" was indeed a re-make. The original version was done my Erma Franklin (Aretha's sister), and she did it well, but Janis blows it out of the park. by the way, the WORST re-make of this song, despite going to #1 on the country charts, was Faith Hill's version.

  @rachel776 Great. I'm not trying to be right and I'm always open to being corrected. I'm looking at this very logically and could be missing your point then. If you work in the industry, I don't ea t to insult that lol. How is am original song written by someone else and publicly been sung not the original song before it is handed to another artist? I'm a blockhead sometimes so what am I missing?

ohh I love Halestorm. One of my favorite songs of theirs is "I Get Off", which never fails to make me... get off. 😏
There's a lot of old country songs that I like the covers better than the originals, but I still gotta show love to the OG's for coming up with the music in the first place.
