Oh, plenty.
The one that really comes to mind is "Get Together" by The Youngbloods originally released in 1967 but then re-released in 1969 becoming a major hit. The original was called "Let's Get Together" by Chet Powers aka "Dino Valenti".

https://www.youtube.com/embed/EAB3fyCIHpcThat The Youngbloods cover song is a standard that you will hear on any radio station focused on classic rock aka 1960s and 1970s rock. For instance, you'd hear this on SiriusXM's "60s Gold" (Channel 73) which was originally "60s on 6" (Channel 6) until this past year.

The original version was by a guy named Moon Martin. It was awful compared to this:

https://www.youtube.com/embed/_T3vCfmfW3wYes, this Janis Joplin version of "Piece of My Heart" was indeed a re-make. The original version was done my Erma Franklin (Aretha's sister), and she did it well, but Janis blows it out of the park. by the way, the WORST re-make of this song, despite going to #1 on the country charts, was Faith Hill's version.

This was actually written about a woman named Barbara “Bobby” McKee. Joplin recorded 2 years after someone else did originally. Many have covered it since but it will always be hers.

There's a lot of old country songs that I like the covers better than the originals, but I still gotta show love to the OG's for coming up with the music in the first place.
