What is the worse game you have played?

So I'm wondering, What was the worse game you have ever played? It can be free or paid.

I'll try to go first.. The worse freebie for me would be on steam called haunted gas station, and the worse paid was Call of duty infinite warfare.. That just swayed to far from call of duty feels.

I've gone on at length about the Ultima series in my MyTakes, so I'll talk instead about a game that actually challenges Ultima IX in terms of awfulness.

Master of Orion was an incredible game; not just genre-defining but genre-creating- the phrase "4X game" was literally coined in a review of it. It was bigger and deeper even than Sid Meier's Civilization, and showed the world what gaming could really be. Moo 2 was unambiguously better in almost every respect (though I acknowledge the points of contention; the amount of micromanaging could be overwhelming, and certain technologies and racial traits were as unbalanced as the battle of Cuzco, to say nothing of AI that was easy to cheese, even accidentally). Master of Orion 3 not only killed the franchise, but killed the genre, for a time, and it still hasn't recovered twenty years later. I could do another whole series of MyTakes on why it was so bad, but here I'll focus on just three.

First, the decision to make it more "realistic", in the sense that a galactic emperor wouldn't be making hands-on decisions for every aspect of their society. Thus, combat controls went from "complete" in the first games to "attack, defend, or flee" in 3. The first time I attacked a planet in 3, I selected my ships and ordered them to attack. They interpreted "attack" as "fly around in circles while the enemy fires long-range missiles at you until you've been destroyed", and there was no way (that I found, at least) to make it do otherwise. Diplomacy was no longer instantaneous, either; you'd send a request, and not hear back for several turns, at which point you'd get something like "'We utterly reject your proposal and hope to see you annihilated' says the Trilarian ambassador, smiling warmly", with no reference to what the proposal in question actually WAS.

Second, the lack of information feedback. My first game, I played for about a hundred turns, and was doing more-or-less okay, until suddenly, I lost. No explanation, no details, just a sudden video popping up telling me how my civilization had fallen into ruin, apparently overnight. I eventually found out that that's what happens when a member of the Galactic Senate gets everyone to vote them supreme leader, winning a diplomatic victory, and I, at that point, had only made contact with two other species, neither of which was even IN the Senate. So, with no involvement from me, an AI I'd never met had won the game. Great.

Third was the DRM. I actually had a legitimately purchased physical copy; nothing fishy about it, but the game wouldn't even RUN off a cd drive that was capable of burning CDs. I had to put in an older drive I had lying around, just to get it it to work. And even that didn't stop it from frying my hard drive.

The real hell of it is that the dev team eventually made a patch- but the developer wouldn't let them release it.

The worst may have been either of the first two games of The Witcher. Terrible gameplay, clunky controls. Granted I first played them years after they came out so expectations for games were quite a bit higher than if it had been when they were initially released.

Ironically, I think the best game I ever played was The Witcher 3. I bought all 3 at the same time, which shows how old the other 2 were. I also think they suffer considerably in comparison to that release, which may affect my choice.
