Well it really depends on what you're actually after. So e people really want to collect the original console and that's like, a thing for them. So if that's your thing then by all means collect away.

However if your JUST trying to play games then no, don't buy anything. Use an emulator.

I don't know what kind of computer you have but if it's even remotely modern it should be able to handle an emator and the. You can play literally ANY PS1 game for completely free.

EPSXE is probably the most common PS1 emulator but there are others. And it's very very straightforward to use. All you will need to do is find a good place to get the PS1 ISOs so you can actually get the games you want. I forget where I got mine from but if you just look around on Google for PS1 ISOs your bound to come across a website that has them

Never pay for any of it. If any website is asking you for money they are ripping you off. These things are freely available in all sorts of places on the internet. So anyone asking for money is a scam

I don’t know how much PS1 goes for these days. Assuming it’s very little, i’d suggest you can easily get your money’s worth from nostalgia alone.

Sort of? PS2 can play PS1 and PS2 games and has an ethernet port, multitap support, usb ports (on top of memory card slots), and a hard drive expansion bay, so it makes more sense to get that instead.

Yeah, I'm thinking that too. But it depends on your reasons, as an iconic collector, the PS1 is probably the one to go for. But just for playing on, maybe the PS2 for the expanded range. Other pro of PS1 is that there's no linking-up-to-other-devices nonsense, it's just you and the vibrations from Psycho Mantis.

@Skyros I do think that for just playing games, PS2 would be better yes, since you can play ps2 games too. Two libraries of games to play.
