That’s not at all true.
Gamergate was a culture war started by game developers who tried to pawn off terrible games with uncompelling characters on gamers in the name of “diversity”. When their games didn’t sell, they accused gamers of being misogynistic, racist, et cetera; the usual nonsense instead of accepting that they screwed up. Gamers don’t care what their characters look like as long as the story is compelling, and the playability isn’t sacrificed in favor of political nonsense. Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular franchises of all time and the games are rife with great characters of both sexes, as well as various races and nationalities. Sports games are extremely popular and not only do they not exclude people of color, when you’re developing your own profile, you can choose your race and nationality.
Terrible people made terrible games with terrible storylines and lame characters, but rather than just admit that they screwed up, they tried to characterize gamers as ignorant and hateful.
You should be ashamed of yourself for posting this from such an ignorant perspective. You’re either deliberately driving the hateful narrative of the radical left or you’re wildly uninformed about the events that led up to gamergate, and the messy aftermath.

Hate to say it, but there's usually a reason for the bullying. If you're semi-attractive, being a female streamer is 1000 times easier than being a male streamer. I don't ever watch streams in general and have never understood the culture, but if you're going to be a woman streamer with no talent and just try to get attention with your body and looks, then you should be prepared for some harrassment the same way if you choose to have an OnlyFans account and sell explicit content. On the other hand, if you're streaming and showing a useful skill like some sort of athletics or sharing knowledge in any way, you deserve only respect in my books. Girls will still get more attention in that than males. That's just the way it is.
No.
I'm a woman who plays videogames every day, and I have never experienced harassment. I've been on the ol COD shit talking the grown men who take their fits, and chirping the guys I'm playing with, having fun while insulting everyone to show appreciation lol.
I've played Co-op modes in Dead By Daylight, L4D, Dead Island, Back 4 Blood, etc.
I have been asked about being a woman before, but I have not been harassed about it.
Honestly, I believe sometimes women do not pickup on the jokes, the sly remarks, sarcasm, or the crude humour as much as some other women do, and that makes a huge divide between the understandings, making SOME feel harassed (depending on context) while others it's simply sh1t talking for fun.
I don't play games on stream but if I did, I wouldn't really care if a bunch of losers who can't even show their face in public are being to mean to me. They are just pathetic losers with no life. Who watches a stream of someone they hate? Literally someone with no life.
Tho I hate girl streamers who fake it, have no talent, or do weird half naked stuff on twitch to get followers for their OFs. If those kind get bullied they deserve it ngl lol.

Gamers harass anything with a pulse. Women are not uniquely targeted. But of course feminists are professional victims so they can't cope.
The harsh reality is: if gaming is not for you it's not for you. Trying to change it is only ever gonna result in "Gamergate".
The notion of wanting to control the thoughts and actions of a massive community is truly a post modern totalitarian regimeI mean boys in game chats hate on literally everyone. Every race, sex, ideology, literally anything. It is far from exclusive to girls. I mostly play single player stuff nowadays so I don't know if it's gotten worse but I can't imagine it's worse than when I was 12-16 in call of duty and battlefield.
There are definitely more girls playing online games now though
Just the word 'harassment' alone tells you everything you need to know..
'the action of subjecting someone to aggressive pressure or intimidation'
As far as I'm concerned, it's wrong by whoever does it to whom, whether it be online or outside.
I think it's a good thing, women shouldn't be playing video games, video games was always a guy thing until feminism took over, it's just so weird seeing women play video games, whatever happened to a time where boys would just hop on and play games together and have good times, and now these women are coming over and ruining everything for us, how would women like it if men started doing what women do like put on make up and going to the mall and playing dress up? They would think that's weird, but either way women don't belong in video games.
You're wrong about 'Gamergate'. Read Chazmatazz269's comment below. If you're going to ask a question about gaming, at least have the decency to actually know what you're talking about.
And no, I play games as well, and I've never been "harrassed" because of who I am, and if you can't handle the online banter then may I suggest you find some other hobby, like gardening or lawn bowls?
Seen it before. Its pathetic. Saw this multiple times in CS. Fact is some of those girls wasted the guys and they couldn't take it. I love gamer girls and I love when they kick my asss. Its a challenge and its fun. The guys who harass them are just plain pussies.
Guys were sexist in 1940s and they still are now. They've got to let it out someway and a common way is girl gamers because it's a easy target that's the reality of it.
Equally there is many guys who aren't and are happy to see girl gamers so don't let it get you down if you are one.Gamer gate was about the corruption of games journalism and game developers mainly. And that's still going on. I don't think there's any other field of journalism where the journalists hate their audience as much as in video games. It's actually amazing.
My thoughts are the same as they are for women who wear leggings in the gym, and call every guy that looks a "creep". Chances are, it's just another attempt for girls to try to play the victim and get money sent their way, as well as demonize guys who are doing nothing wrong
A reason I try to stay mostly gender neutral in online games and dont like voicechat with random people. Yes it happened often.
I haven't. And it seems like the sort of thing only boys who will go on to become incels would engage in.
well the only comment i have is: there's very little spaces men can be among themself these days. and if you're a woman entering domains that males use as their retreat, then you should not expect to be the most welcome. i mean same happens if you decide to enter domains dominated by women as a man.
That's not what gamergate was about at all and you should stop getting your sources from woke idiots.

I just don't play online games because I don't want to deal with childish boys
I hear something about this, that's why I can't start playing video games
If someone is too annoying, I could always just block or mute. Have not had to do that though
I think it should be turned into a league. Joking aside though it's pretty pathetic that's why I don't use my microphone because you girls can be just as toxic. Lol
If people can't handle trash talking, they shouldn't play games online.
i think your 10 years too late to talk about gamer gate. that went down in 2014..
Girls just have to ruin everything for the boys don't they? This is why my hoobies only involve myself.
