Why do a lot of guys bully girls in online games?

Most guys that play games lack basic levels of social skills with how to talk or deal with women that tends to bring out you basic level simp or your stereotypical get in the kitchen responses one of the other factors is that online gaming tends to be a crazy toxic landscape as it is for guys anyway down ti it being hyper competitive so why guys lash out or flame they try to hurt people's feelings so with women it will tend to be sexist another factor is unfortunately the biggest girls in the gaming space tend to also have onlyfans which has soured many peoples opinions on the matter making it seem like women only get into gaming for males attention thus dies not excuse shitty behaviour online tho

I think in lots of countries other than mine, video games were marketed to boys. So there was this sense that video games are more for guys than girls.

Wasn't true in my country in Japan. Girls and boys both played Famicom (Nintendo elsewhere) and we played at each other's houses and in toy stores, not in the boy's section.

But I think at least in many countries outside of Japan, there is still this idea that video games are for boys more than girls.

I remember when I was 7-years old visiting US over Summer that I went to Toys R' Us and I'm like, "Where are the video games?" I walked through the store with my parents and it was huge with bicycles and stuff. Then finally I found the video games in the boys section but I was asking, "Why is this in the boys section? In Japan we don't put in boys section. And we don't have commercials like only boys play video games." Then I also noticed with the girls I met there like none of them play Nintendo. It was considering boys' thing.

They don't as much as you think. They're just a-holes some of the time and bully anyone new, not because you're a girl. Sometimes they tease you like they tease each other as a way of showing acceptance into the group. Get a bunch of guys together and we're pretty merciless to one another. If it's that kind of good-natured ribbing, congrats on being accepted and treated the same as everyone else.
