Why do some people take advise from Internet strangers?

How is it useless? It's advice. You want it to be as helpful as possible and chances are, the person with the most helpful advice out of the 8 billion people in the planet is not only not in your circle, but not going to give the same quality of answer they would if they sat there, thought about what they were going to say and typed it out.

Their advice can go against your values or beliefs. Just because it's advice it doesn't have to be helpful

Just because it's bad advice or goes against your morals, it doesn't mean it doesn't bring value to your life.

That's the beauty of the internet, you can learn from other people's experiences. Far and wide.

Maybe you won't do what that person did, but maybe even just a part of what they're doing makes you learn something valuable.

When I was young I worked for this guy who was a crook. He had a lot of techniques he used to charm people.

I learned to do the same only instead of using the opportunies that come from charming people to swindle and hurt them, I use them to uplift and help them, make friends, end arguments.

there's few things more self destructive a person can do than not learn something because they don't like where it came from.

It never helped me so far. I just met lot of weirdos I wouldn't otherwise meet but met some cool people too so I don't know it's a 50/50 experience to me

Like anything in life, you have to use your jusgement. Your judgements is only as good as what you've learned from previous experience.

Maybe because they don’t have any other communities to turn to. Don’t judge people for doing what you don’t when you have no idea what their life is like behind the screen.

Everyone has different life experiences. If someone had experienced something that you haven't, it's a good idea to get their input.
