What do you do for a job and what was the most dangerous thing about it?

I work in the oil field as a truck driver it’s really dangerous but it pays good money I’m 19 and making 70$ per hour I work about 16 hour days but I was running a little behind on a rig delivery out to a rig and it’s in a valley where the road they made was for pickup trucks to get down but I was driving down and I have about 80,000 pound behind me I slid down that entire muddy dirt road that they worked on so hard when I got to the bottom I got out to start unloading and one of the rig operators came up to me and stabbed me with a 3 inch blade into my side I punched him in the face and he cut my face with the knife so I kick him in the gut and punched him in the face until he was completely knocked out he is fine now and was fired mean while I’m healing from my injuries so I offered to clean up the road and riggers said no to that so we spent 10 hours trying to get my big rig up that hill

There trucks designed for the oil feild and going down sketchy roads so they put the other gears with the shifter

The engineers initially had it right but were overridden by management who cheaped-out and so the engineers had to make it shitty. Result: 2 plane crashes and almost 400 people dead.

The engineers didn’t “have to” do anything. If you know management is making decisions that are dangerous, you have not just the right, but the obligation to refuse and report them to any kind of oversight organization or government entity. Those engineers chose their jobs over other people’s lives and livelihoods. They should all be in prison.

First, you need to know some things.
Certification requires adherence to various standards. The primary one here is RTCA DO-178.
They WERE certified although I think the certification process is flawed.
Who should be held accountable are the people who signed any of the coversheets of the relevant DO-178 "artifacts" (such as a Software Requirements Specification, Software Verification Test Plan, Software Verification Cases and Procedures, Software Verification, etc.)
However, each of these is just part of some system, and not the whole thing and no single person can have control over it all. For instance, the engineers who designed the system would not know or have any responsibility over management's decision to minimally train about this system. A flaw in the industry, as far as I am concerned, is that the aircraft manufacturer is not responsible for training pilots about a system; the purchasing airline is. It's all very complicated.

I agree with you that someone should be held accountable, but it is difficult to peg anyone beyond one or two people - people probably so high up that they were disengaged from reality.

Ya I’ve got a lot of buddies in the patch, money is incredible but I call bs on making $70 before OT driving truck

It’s not I am one of the 10 truckers we have that have most endorsements no one else has the balls to drive a 25 speed manual semi truck towing 80,000 pounds on some dangerous roads I am one of the best we have we are short on help in the oil feild

Ya I’ve driven heavy trucks, I know the shift pattern for 13, 15, and 18s and I suppose Mack used to make those weird 5X4s but never heard of 25

It’s pretty much an 18 speed but has gears for different terrain types and has 3 reverse speeds

Well that’s what an 18 is. 4 spd with hi/lo and splitter. Technically has 4 rev gears
