Which of these two genres do you prefer: Fantasy or Sci-Fi and why?

Sci Fi (with the exception of monetized spectacles such as ''Star Wars'') has a broader range of intellectual topics.

Where 'Fantasy' has deteriorated to: stories about a bunch of sword wielding hooligans who travel around, and murder a few 'enemies' on their way.

Unfortunately in this age of copy-and-paste new ideas have become rare.

Where the 60's and 70's were at their creative peak.

The Golden Age of Science Fiction might be over, but the Fantasy genre is mainly characterized by lazy writing. Hey, it's fantasy. It doesn't need to make sense. It doesn't even have good world building anymore. Does it have dragons? No more questions.

Fantasy. I grew up with Lotr, and there's an unparalleled sense of adventure with that genre, in the natural (although magical and fantastical) world which also satisfies a spiritual need we have as humans.

Sci fi lacks a soulful core.
