Premise. Set against the backdrop of the Regency era, the eight close-knit siblings of the noble and powerful Bridgerton family – Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth – navigate London high society in search of love, surrounded by friends and rivals alike.

I read the books, and I am watching the series, and I love it. The author of the book is Julia Quinn, who is an amazing author when we talk about romances and historic novels. Bridgerton is not her only work. In fact, she wrote so many books that are part of this genre, and I love them all.
The director of the series, Shonda Rhimes, based the netflix series on Quinn's books and she is doing a magistral work with it, she changed some storylines and some characters, but even though she did this the story still has the elements that made me fall in love with the books. The actors are very talented and I love the variety of actors present in the series, every ethnicity is represented in a good way, this is the only thing that make the series different from the reality of the past, but to have representation is important expecially in a huge project like this. I think that it's the diversity of the cast that makes this work so famous because everyone is able to identify with a character. I am one of this people, Penelope is the character I identify myself with, and if you have read the book or watched the series, you know why a person can identify herself with Pen.
I am not a romantic person usually, but this series is really amazing, and I bet that I was able to fall in love with it because of the historical period used by Quinn.
Another reason why I love the series is because it's set in the Regency era, as a history lover, that period was very beautiful.
It is funny, romantic , breathtaking, and sometimes spicy. It is worth a try. So watch it and fell in love with it.

I hear that there is pornographic scenes on that historic series and therefore, I will not watch it.

I do not understand why pornography always has to be included in movies or series to make it more attractive. Are there no longer series on prime time that do not include nudes, sex and pornography? What is the purpose to include that kind of deviant content in shows that are aired when children watch along.

I would have thought that there enough free pornographic content readily available on those clips in the internet and I wonder why the movie industry has also to integrate pornographic content in their movies when they have the option to leave it out altogether...

There is a difference between pornography and erotism or spicy scenes. It is not a show for children so I don't see the problem.
It is a series about love and a part of love is sex, I dknt know why you are so scandalised

Sexual scenes and pornography are two different things, they itd not the same and plus there are a lot of problems in the world, why should we be preoccupied with a futile thing like sexual scenes on a series?

why can't movie producers not make movies that are clean and free of those kind of scenes? Is it because our totally screwed up society would not watch those movies anymore?

No, I watch a lot of movies who aren't about that, sex is not everything but in a romance series where the aim of the main characters is to find a wife or a groom it is necessary.
Don't you thing that sex is part of a healty relationship? So why shouldn't they show that?

Sex may be part of a relationship, albeit a very small and insignificant part. I can understand that people do fornicate at home but why include it in movies? We all know that those scenes only have 2 major reasons to be.

1. To attract people to watch deviant content on those movies and
2. To stretch the length of the movie to a maximum because otherwise, those movies would be over in no time.

The same applies to those romantic novels. If the authors don't repeat themselves over and over again with erotic/pornographic descriptive, the book would not have a story to it and would only have 20 pages.

I watched some of it. Sorry, but it reminds me of a time when people were even dumber than they are now, customs were burdensome, and women were treated as cattle. Marriages were made for consolidating power or convenience, and the gap between the haves and have nots was even more apparent. My SO lost interest in it as well, calling it "over romanticized nonsense and treachery". However, I get that some folks loved it and it was very popular on Netflix.

I get what you are saying, I like the show, but to think how women where treated or some of the reality behind that period is not good, but I take it as it is, so a romantic series set in 1800 and nothing else

I saw the first episode. Kinda. I fell asleep. But it was 4 in the morning and I had been up for 20 hours.

In any case its been on my watchlist forever but just haven't actually watched it yet.

My SO is watching it. I occasionally get glimpses of it. There seems to be quite a bit of pretty explicit soft porn sex in it.

No, usually I can enjoy the setting but ahistorical shows driven by some modernistic plot isn't my cup of tea. I like the real thing better. Downtown abbey being a good counter example.

I loved Downtown Abbey, but as I said Bridgerton has some historical elements, but it's more of a romance so I am not looking for realism
