How is Twilight inappropriate for a 8 year old child?

I allowed my 8 year old daughter watch Twilight movies she is now getting into reading the twilight novels. I given my daughter permission and I am om with her watching twilight.

Few months ago I had just started working at a new job and my Karen crazy sister had to watch h my daughter as I was going threw a divorced ad just my bad luck.

My daughter calls me at work crying that my sister would not allowed her to watch Twilight and forced her to watch this stupid Cat in the hat movie from 2003 in my sister small world Twilight is inappropriate for her age that it is not OK for my daughter. I mean come on my daughter is smart and mature for her age. My sister is the typical Christian karen boring mom.

The movies are probably no big deal for a kid that age, aside from the fight scenes depending on how you view it. The books might be slightly more on the adult side (though honestly the writing level should be enough for a kid in grade 3 or 4 to understand it) but I’m sure if she has weird feelings you guys can chat about it and help her understand. Girls are hitting puberty earlier and earlier these days so that may be her first fictional crush which can be pretty cute, but if you’re really concerned that the books or movies might be inappropriate and have never seen them then you can always consume the media yourself and make sure it’s appropriate for your kid. I do know the books are aimed at a slightly older audience but honestly kids are hitting puberty earlier and earlier these days so she might be growing up pretty quick. I do know there’s sex in the third book bc that’s where they have a baby and you can double-check those descriptions to see if that’s something worth worrying about.


As for your sister refusing to let her watch it, she might be a Karen crazy freak but that’s also her house and she’s allowed to dictate what is and isn’t appropriate under her roof. As much as your daughter may not like that, that’s something she’ll have to be aware of the more time she spends with her aunt so you’ll need to talk about respecting boundaries with her, at least when she’s staying there.

Right! Now a days times are so different. My child is now asking me for fake nails and extentions I'm like is that a thing now for little girls lol.

My daughter is reading the first novel and I allowed watched Twilight Eclipse and New Moon.

My daughter always wants to know what comes up next.

My daughter will be going to 3rd Grade this coming school year. She loves to read in fat she loved A Cinderella Story.

My sister she's a Millenial she thinks times are still from back when she was 10 years old.

For real what 8 year old now a days wants to watch Cat in the hat now a days?
My sister is a Christian Freak Karen and super judgmental.

I allowed my daughter to play with my cosmetics I allowed her experimet with make up.

My sister also took my daghters phone away because she believes social media ruins childhoods I say it's bs our mom allowed us to watch TV ad we turn out fine.

She’s not wrong to think social media is harmful to kids. There’s definitely evidence to support the theory that social media is made to be a dopamine factory, which gives plenty of instant, short-term dopamine but doesn’t help with long-term dopamine that comes from things like hobbies or completing projects, which can be detrimental if unregulated. Not to mention the social media culture of beauty that’s so prevalent these days it can cause some serious insecurities in young minds. I agree she’s probably judging a little too harshly but she’s also only 8, barely coming into her awareness of who she is and maybe her last years of innocence. Maybe in the future just ask your sister not to watch her if you disagree with how she handles your daughter.

I think Breaking Dawn is inappropriate for obvious reasons. I wouldn't want to have to explain the sex and pregnancy parts. The other books and movies are fine though.
