If you could time travel, would you visit the future or the past?

In the past, I always used to say I'd choose the past. Times where technology did not exist and things were simple. You had more land, more freedom, more mystery to the world, and there were less people.

(Fun fact: Just 500 years ago, the world's population was estimated to be approximately 500 million. And today it's 8 billion. That's a 1600% increase in 500 years... and people say overpopulation is a myth 😂)

Even if you had a lower life expectancy and there were not cures to even simple illnesses, I still think there were more benefits living then than now.

But when I think of the future, I also get excited. There's some crazy concepts that scientists are starting to figure out. Like becoming an immortal may not be just a dream. Teleportation too. I know it sounds crazy, but they're already showing that it may be possible. And then there's the idea of a utopian society where robots take care of all the necessities, and we're left to pursue our passions and the things that make us feel alive in life.

I'm really torn because I know I'd probably have a better time in the past than now, but the future holds so much potential that it could be 1000 times better than the past or present.

I would like to travel the past and see ancient ( or during those times modern) Egypt and really see how the pyramids were made. See how this advanced civilization during its era set the future of bread making farming. See how the people decided on mummification as a way to send the body to rest. Travel a little further and see how the Pharaohs actually ruled. How the Sea people invading. How medicine was created. And solve the age old meme of highest priority on whether Cleopatra was really black according one a single grandmother’s interpretation. So much can be learned just on one civilization out of many.

Definitely the future! If I went back in the past, I'd be terrified that I would do one tiny, insignificant little thing that would cause my entire world to stop existing! However, visiting the future… I could do anything I wanted it wouldn't change the "future" because if I did it, then it was meant to happen!

I would travel to the relatively recent future, find out how a bunch of future sporting events turned out, then come back to the present and bet heavily on all of them.

Then I could enjoy my wealth and power, until some kid and a wild-eyed scientist came along and ruined everything.

If possible I’d visit the past and spend time with different people in history for a conversation that I always wanted to know. I think I like concept of a mysterious unknown adventure such as the future.
