My wife just watched a Norwegian movie called Three Wishes for Cinderella. She told me part of the plot. There were differences from other versions.
Then she was reminiscing about the 1965 Disney musical with Lesley Ann Warren and started singing the song In My Own Little Corner. I can just see her as a little girl relating to that.
So then we googled the song. Leslie Ann Warren singing in a little girl voice.
Then I wondered about the origins of the story that has been told so many times in books, plays, operas and movies. Was it eastern European? Brothers Grimm?
I was surprised to learn that precursors go back to the first century BCE.
