Did fairytales ever teach you anything useful?

Fairy tales are read to kids to help them learn about the world. For example, in Little Red Riding Hood, we learn that if your parents send you out alone in a wolf infested forest, then they probably don't love you that much.

I used to like Elen Benfelen (Yellowhead) or Goldilocks as she's known everywhere else, which is dumb because it doesn't rhyme. I taught me it's safer to be alone in the woods with 3 bears than a man. Plus, it's OK to investigate any houses I might stumble across.

As I've aged I've come to understand the fact there was 3 separate beds points to difficulties in the Bears marriage probably brought on by Mr Bears inability to provide anything but porridge due to being a low earner.

So what fairytale did you like as a child, and what lessons did it teach you?
