Who are the best guitarists in the world today?

To me, "good" means that I like it. That has more to do with style than technical ability.

I like a lot of types of music, but some genres aren't known for their guitar work ( like soul, Motown, etc). I really like the blues so I'll start there.

Billy Gibbons
3 from Allman Brothers: Dickey Betts (who just died), Warren Hayes, Derick Trucks
Buddy Guy
David Knopfler
Robin Trower

Can't for get that Jimmy Page is still alive. I don't know what he is doing though.

Richie Blackmore. Unlike some big names from the 60s, he didn't become static like some people. He kept exploring and developing his style.

David Gilmore - he just sounds consistently good.

Buckethead - but get rid of the damn bucket.

Carlos Santana - kinda hit and miss, but I really like some of his work.

I'll throw in one more, just to be different. Neil Young. Not a name most people would think of, but his unique sound just sounds good and can really draw you in.

Joe Bonamassa

There are several I want to explore, but there is only so much time.

This Austrian guitarist I found on YouTube. Being the world's best guitarist, is not mastering a few cords, but to push them to the limit. To play them in ways no one ever dared to play them.

As far as I can tell, Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, I would've said, Pete Rossi but, sadly, he died about 5 years ago, I WOULD consider adding Pete's brother, Joe, but I've never heard him play, Steve Howe, Steve Hillage, Buckethead, Mike Oldfield, Andy Partridge, Zoot Horn Rollo, David Tweed, Prince would've made the list, Joe Satriani, Jason Davis.

Gary Clark Jr is pretty damned good, but he's a better guitarist than he is a song writer. But this performance is one of my favorites.
