You had several girl groups in the 60s-80s (Pointer Sisters),

90s (TLC, Jade, Xscape, En Vogue),

and finally the 00s (Destiny's Child).

Well Destiny's child had to split everything 3& 4 ways. Beyonce literally got 3 times the money when Destiny's child split. If you had say 3 black women to form a girl group well they aren't going to be beautiful and talented the way Beyonce, Michelle & kelly were back them, instead they would be mediocre simply because if you had 3 black singers like Beyonce, Michelle & kelly they'd be singles artists.
Because the market focus is now on Korean girl groups.
Marketing for strong African American female singers has moved them to solo careers -- with temporary collaborations -- which has proven to be vastly more successful model for women in the entertainment community.
Girl bands, beginning with the Spice Girls some eons ago, have become more of a "cutesy" thing now, which is also fine.
Cuz they knew musical groups were finished for good
