Why would people laugh non stop at a Mexican sculpture statue?

I find this very interesting. I was visiting an old friend we decided to go to this traditional Mexican museum I love learning from other cultures. Now in this museums they had all different kind of Picasso Art and other beautiful Mexican Art sculptures nice things people created with their own hands just beautiful talent. We came across this interesting statue it only had a head and a box no legs or arms just a head and a box with a mohawk. Once my friend look at the statue she started laughing hysterical. I mean she was on the ground she couldn't stop laughing at the statue to the point people call the ambulance. Yet she couldn't stop laughing. What was going on? I didn't nothing funny about this statue. It's not like the statue was mechanical you press a bottom to get the statue to make a funny dance. It just place there? Why? What's so funny about it? Forgot to mention my friend did the same thing when she saw my older sister African and Egyptian Mask collection. How is culture art funny? I will download a picture and tell me if it's funny or just normal? Why would my friend laugh at traditional sculpture, statues, Mask?

I think I should’ve seen it before reading cause I think I felt ready to laugh. I mean I felt a smile snd

tried not to. It just looks funny with the ginormous feathers on the head and it looks like a little kiddy with the jewelry and the stubbiness of the body.

Looks like a kids toy than actual ancient creation though. Nothing resembling artifact. I was more inspired by the shield behind it with seemingly realistic and historical patterns. Meaning seemed to be THERE.

But I don’t think anything about this statue commands respect or puts a wave of awe or induces wondering or imagining of the past.

I’ve seen other types of cultured artifacts and it was amazing. I think context is everything as well. I just saw this statue on a bed bath and beyond site instead of in the ruins of an ancient civilization or a glorious museum or lost city.

So it just makes it more unexpected and funny. Never thought I’d see these in a store like bed bath and beyond or a Walmart.

I think of it more as a funny cute. It’s worth mentioning I really appreciate a great deal of cultures and history of them, as well as being angry by your friend and the description of her seeming lack of respect, but I agree this image is just silly looking. I don’t see it as anything ancient, holy, or of wisdom. This is not something a chief somewhere would give to their descendant. I don’t think.

As long as it’s harmless, I don’t see the issue in laughing. But laughing in a museum seems inappropriate. If I couldn’t contain myself, I’d have left the premises to laugh outside, until I cooled down.

I see what you mean the whole funny cute laugh in a way. But I mean my friend would just bring it up and she wouldn't even finish the conversation because she everytime she bring this statue up she spits and laughs non stop and I mean for hours. I just toughth that was arranged I never seen anyone laughing at something so much. I mean yes I do agree with you about the laughing at a museum we should be respectful and mindful about other people who are their to enjoy art and historical events. But every time when my friend brings that statue up she laughs.

I don’t really know what it is some people have a weird sense of humor. There was one time at a thrift store where my grandma took someone else’s shopping kart and bought everything else in it and she was sitting in the back of the store in a chair laughing hysterically.
