Why all the hate for Nickelback?

Like seriously, where did all the hate come from? I mean, I know it kinda became “cool” to hate them, but seriously, why does everyone hate them? They have pretty catchy songs. Is there any legitimate reason people hate them other than “oh well their music just sucks.” When I know good and well not EVERYONE feels this way about all their music.

I don’t totally get it either. I’m not necessarily a fan of them, but I wonder why THEIR music specifically is deemed “the worst.” It’s just radio-rock, really. They’re kind of soft, I guess, and hardo dudes always like to demonstratively make a big deal of how not-soft they are, lmao. Maybe that’s the origin. Creed got the same treatment.

I feel like both bands are kind of retrospectively popular with people who weren’t alive the first time around though. Like there’s a kid on my hockey team that always wants us to play Creed before games, lmao. I would’ve been laughed out of the room when I was his age😂

But I think younger generations love to hate what the generation before them loves (I am LOVING the beating all those Millenials who started calling me “old” 15 years ago are taking now…. its YOUR TURN, motherfuckers🖕😝🖕), so all the bands that were kind of jokes that you didn’t want to admit you liked any of their songs in the late 90s/early 00s are cool now.

I got tickets to see The Fugees with Lauryn Hill —THE Lauryn Hill, one of the greatest singers of my generation— and they cancelled the tour because they weren’t selling enough tickets. Around the same time, fucking LIMPBIZKIT sold out a show at the same venue…. WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING?🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

They're not bad at all. They have talent and skill but they don't use it to their full potential.

Instead focusing on "Radio Hits", formulaic styles, and they rely a little too much on covers.

The first time I heard them it was a cover song which is not a good way to be intoduced to a band. That being said they do have a few real good bangers.

Otherwise I just find them to be... meh.
