Did you know that Kris Kristofferson was a Rhodes Scholar and also a Golden Gloves boxer?

I hadn't heard this, but I knew he was getting pretty old and probably wouldn't be around much longer. He was a staple and very under-rated song writer and performer. He also "discovered" other big names like Steve Goodman (City of New Orleans) or wrote songs that made them famous (Bobby McGee). He was a scholar and an athlete as well.

He was never quite at the very top, but he did a damn good job with what he did do. He always seemed like a pretty decent guy - never a big ego who thought too highly of himself. He worked with a whole lot of people and never tried to crowd them out.

I didn't know much about him aside from the fact that he wrote some really, really good songs. I knew that he was in the band "The Highwaymen" and had been in quite a few movies. I didn't care much for his acting.

When I saw your question, I looked him up. Wow. He was kind of an amazing guy and had an amazing life.

I actually know of him! He was part of a group with Jonny Cash and Willy Nelson. They sang a song called "The Highway Men". I've seen it on infomercials for classic country DVDs. I actually like that song.

Along with Waylon Jennings they were known as The Highwaymen. There is a video of them performing at the Nassau County convention center. It is often shown on PBS. Watch it, it iss very good.

That song is one of my favorites! Also, I always thought Waylon Jennings had the best voice in all of music at that time. I am a huge fan of his.

I watched it on YouTube, excellent! I never heard the whole song before. Little Lacey actually had goosebumps! 🤣🤣 Aren't these guy's like legends of country music? And yes, @slingblade1126 Waylon Jennings has an amazing voice. I also have to say, Kris Kristofferson was the best looking of the group lol excellent performers but not much to look at. Love that song! Did you know that they're all singing about the same guy? I figured it out after like the 100th time I heard the song! First he was a highwayman, died... then a sailor, died... then a dam builder, died... then he drove a starship. I figured it out at the end, when cash sings, "Perhaps I'll become a highwayman again or simply a single drop of rain but I will remain". If you knew this already, disregard everything I just wrote.
