What TV show had the worst finale?

For me, it was definitely Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones' was awful, yes, but the show had been declining for some time; as the writers ran out of written material to adapt in plotline after plotline, each character's writing tumbled into free-fall, some faster than others. Episode 3 of season 8 was enough to make me give up on the show; I only finished it out of a sense of duty. So it was bad, yes, QUITE bad, but the blow was softer for being a fall from what was already low.

So I'll suggest Quantum Leap. The show's quality wavered a bit, but the last season was actually pretty good- until the last episode, which had the main character meeting up with what was implied to be God in disguise, who essentially offered him the choice to keep leaping through lives and helping people, or returning home. Now, that could've been an interesting dilemma to confront, especially since there was never any explanation for what was guiding his leaps, and the presence of another leaper- one being controlled by outside forces to ruin the lives of the people she leapt into- but the show just ended with a TITLE CARD, saying "Sam Beckett never returned home"- with "Sam Beckett" SPELLED WRONG.

Or if not that, then Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Despite its premise sounding kind of stupid, the show was actually REALLY good, and had some surprisingly deep character writing, especially for its middle seasons. Season five in particular, had some real corkers- a major part of the season, and series, finale was pulled out of the writer's ass at literally the last moment, but it thematically fit, and so it felt okay- a somber, but very fitting, end to a well-liked show. Then the network made them keep going. Season six began with Buffy's resurrection, and actually depicted what a person would go through with being ripped out of the afterlife and forced back into a world filled- especially for them, as a warrior chosen to protect all of humanity- with pain, struggle, and horror. Joss Whedon (or at least 90's-00's Joss Whedon) was GREAT at psychologically abusing his characters.

Unfortunately, because the show was intended to end after season five, the quality varied WILDLY. Among the fan community, there are serious disputes over whether to treasure season six, skip it entirely, or just indulge in certain episodes. And... look, there's no delicate way to put this, so I'll just say it: Joss Whedon is a man who lets his sexuality influence his politics, which it really shouldn't. There's nothing wrong with enjoying being bossed around or manhandled in the bedroom by the opposite sex, but there's a big difference between that and believing they're morally superior, not just to you, personally, but to your entire sex. He didn't get the memo, and season six suffered for it.

Season seven, the final one, was more even, but didn't reach the highs, and the ending... major characters died off, others, who loved and deeply cared for them, literally just shrugged. Major plot implications were hinted at, then completely ignored. Whedon's sexual politics AGAIN flared up in a way that he didn't seem to realize would affect the story (though in fairness, that was mostly in ways beyond what he was writing). There WERE things resolved, and the immediate threats dealt with, but it just... stopped. It didn't really feel like an ending for the characters we'd be following for so long.

Game of Thrones' finale left a lot of fans feeling disappointed due to rushed storylines and unresolved character arcs. Another show that often gets mentioned for its lackluster ending is "How I Met Your Mother." The series took a surprising turn in its final episode, which didn't sit well with many devoted viewers. On The West Wing the president said, "what's next?" all the time. On the finale, as they were flying back home from Washington, the wife asked, "what are you thinking," and instead of saying, "what's next?" which would have been the perfect ending, he said, "tomorrow."

Mad Men, great.

The Americans was great except the scene where Stan Beeman caught them could have been a lot better.

Entourage, terrible.

The Fugitive finale ended the story and made it difficult to market the reruns because everyone knew how it would end.

The NCIS finale which was not really a finale but it was the last episode with Mark Harmon was blah. I expected him to love happily ever after with his wife in real life Pam Dauber.

Pretty little liars... Gossip girl...

Both kinda the same in the sense they kept fucking changing who they were going to make the villain so the story line just ended up not making sense at all.

Still guilty pleasure shows though.

Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles. It was canceled so we could never see how it was going to go. I wish that when a series gets cancelled the creators would at least write a book to wrap things up.
