What TV show has left you feeling completely disappointed?

Doesn't matter if it was the series finale, a cliffhanger that never gets resolved because the series gets cancelled, or if the show simply just sucked after a lot of hype.

I dont watch a lot of TV, but for me it was Dexter. The last few seasons just made it a slog to get through.

Well, there's two ways to answer this question...
1. The show itself was the problem - it either sucked when I expected better or it went to shit.
2. The network cancelled it without closure or too early.

For the first one, it's not so much that I was disappointed, but the entire country pretty much burst out laughing. My girlfriend and I did within a few minutes of the first episode... The show is "Cop Rock" that premiered on ABC in the Fall of 1990. "Cop Rock" was heavily hyped as if this was going to be the next great show from Steven Bochko. The premise: A cop show that was also a musical. Early in the first episode, there's an action sequence of a bust by the cops. Having arrested this one guy, he breaks out into song as they are putting him into the police car/van. My girlfriend and I instantly burst out laughing and turned off the TV. Much of America did too. "Cop Rock" was quickly cancelled and is considered one of the greatest - if not they greatest - failure in American TV. Some said it was ahead of its time... sure it's ahead of its time if its time is the end of the universe. It was the epitome of this that you wrote: "the show simply just sucked after a lot of hype". Fortunately, Steven Bochko was able to recover with "NYPD Blue".

As for shows being cancelled too early, I can list several:
1. Star Trek (the 1966-1969 series), of course.
2. Star Trek (the 1973-1975 animated series Saturday mornings on NBC.)
3. Westworld, the HBO series that premiered in 2016.
4. Century City, a short-lived CBS series that debuted in Fall 2004.
5. Cavemen, an underrated but universally panned ABC series that debuted in Fall 2008.
There are probably some others, but I've rather checked out on watching TV now because of... well... what this question is about... TV has become shit and constantly left me disappointed so I never watch unless it's a big sporting event or the Sunday pundit shows, both on broadcast TV. The only TV I really watch now though are old episodes of Star Trek.

Game of thrones. I was already starting to worry in season 7 the writing was getting worse but then season 8 was a disaster to me.

Also Blue Exorcist it was an anime that started out amazingly I was like omg I want to dive into this world I wanna watch this but then it took a disastrous turn pretty early on only after like 15 epiiodes. I don't know if it was budget problems or internal conflicts or whatever but they shortened down the story from what could have been hundreds of episodes to like 25 and it was so unsatisfying. Honestly this show had so much potential it was about the son of the devil who goes to a demon hunting school and everybody hates him at the start but he uses his powers for good and things start going better. It's a bit like jujutsu kaisen and chainsaw man but it came out before.

Also Hunter X Hunter I feel like the show lost itself a bit in that whole ant arc. It was very good for a long time and then it just went off on a tangent like a person you're talking to except you can't do anything about it and you just have to listen to them ramble on about ants for 61 episodes. It basically killed the show.

I think there have been a lot more disapointments but most of the time I can already see the flaws and the problems and it's not as much of a letdown, I just stop watching often. But sometimes there are still shows with a lot of promise that disapoint.

The walking dead. I recently watched it for the first time and finished all 11 seasons. It started to suck around season 9 after Rick fake died, and I only continued watching it because I’d been told that he comes back in the series finale. So I thought he would come back and reunite with all the other characters who thought that he was dead, and it would be a huge shock moment! Haha, oh I was disappointed. He doesn’t show up until the last  5 minutes  of the last episode, and he doesn’t reunite with anyone, it’s just a short scene showing that he’s alive in some distant city. Huge bummer moment.

I totally get where you're coming from. For me, "Game of Thrones" was disappointing in its final season. The buildup over the years was intense, but the conclusion felt rushed and lacked the depth and character development we had come to love. It was like watching a piece of art crumble. 📉

Oh, the cancellation of  , back then, 2010. This prequel was meant to give additional layers of depth to the main show,  , but it didn't generate enough profit, sadly. It's better than nothing though, the first and only season had enough time to recount why parents could want to resurrect a dead child, if they had such opportunity. Farewell

There was a show about 20 years ago about these two school girls that got jobs as regular dancers on American Bandstand back in the `60's. The premise looked really promising as a kind of flashback to the things going on in the `60's but, after about a dozen episodes, it just went nowhere fast!!
At the same time, there was another promising show called, "Invasion". I got into it for about a dozen episodes but, it just took FOREVER to get the fucking story to move along just ONE DAY!! It was more exciting to watch snails fuck!! I got completely bored with it and stopped watching it!!
Another show at that same time, "The Journeyman" which WAS pretty good, got cancelled after just 6 or 7 episodes!! THAT ONE, I would've stayed with!!
"Heroes" was really good but, the 5th season was a bit of a slog (suddenly, EVERYTHING revolved around this travelling Irish circus full of other "heroes") and was not even a full season.

It was such a cool concept, but then as they built the world more and leaned into this whole thing and I didn’t understand the ending until someone else explained it to me and I thought it was the biggest cop out. I think that’s just the result of making it up as you go along, sadly.

True Detective Season 2 was amazing. Zero disappointment, other than the intentional disappointment caused by the writer and the director. I mention this because of the image used for the post.

Rome was ended too soon and was legitimately one of the best shows ever made and it was painfully disappointing that it got cancelled. I feel bad even talking about it right now. Different kind of disappointment too...

Game Of Thrones, like most all of the people that watched it. Number one show of the century turned into a smoldering mess because the author wouldn't finish his books and the directors left to do a star wars franchise which they butchered and left as well. Frigging disappointing.

Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles because it was canceled and the story remained unresolved. I wish they would at least release a book to finish the story when a series like that gets canceled.
