I don't like musicals, but I think the lyrics are very beautiful. And yes, I know there are English versions of this song, but the original is this one.

By far one of the best french songs ever made.

I used to sing it on repeat when I first arrived in France to practice my accent.

I am not sure it translates well in today's culture as comedic. As a lust song yes and the lyrics are beautiful. Gaze (ing) under her gypsy dress would get you locked up :)
