Beethoven's 9th Symphony because of seeing it live with my new-at-the-time girlfriend in October 1990. She could play piano and sang in our school's chorale. She taught me about it and she took me to the opening of the Albany Symphony Orchestra's 1990-1991 season that first weekend in October 1990. While watching that performance, I knew I wanted to marry her and that never changed... When she dumped me in January 1992, after she hung up the phone delivering the news, I sat contemplatively in my rocking chair and sank into despair as I put my CD of Beethoven's 9th Symphony on.

Some people consider Beethoven's 9th Symphony as the greatest piece of music ever written primarily because of Ode to Joy which is the 4th movement. Late, great author Kurt Vonnegut often wrote in his novel Galápagos "Oh, well - he wasn't going to write Beethoven's Ninth Symphony anyway" whenever a character died,
