There are a couple from the 70s - country songs that my grandparents and parents listened to when I was a kid of 4 or 5, and was old enough to decode the lyrics.

George Jones - He Stopped Loving Her Today
Dolly Parton - Me And Little Andy

and a song that came out around the time I was driving 240 miles each way to see my girlfriend every weekend. It's called I Drove All Night, and was first recorded by Roy Orbison but first released by Cyndi Lauper - Roy's version was released about 2 years later, just after he died.

I haven't listened to these songs in decades but they would still get to me.

The first time I heard "Monsters" by James Blunt (well, saw it on YouTube) was not long after my Dad had died - and it caught me right in the feels!

The song was written while his Dad was seriously ill, and it resonated with me
