"Lovely" by Billie Eilish and Khalid is such a hauntingly beautiful song that it touches the soul deeply. The raw emotion in their voices and the somber melody resonate with feelings of longing and melancholy. Another song that has that effect on me is "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton. Its poignant lyrics and touching story behind it never fail to bring tears to my eyes. 🌧️💔

I already knew about the song for some time before my dog died and when I heard that she died, I played this song because she WAS a REALLY good friend to me. And then, I heard the line about the song BEING about a dog that had died (I'd never noticed that, before!) and I started crying like a baby!! Most of my life, dad & I never got along. No matter how hard I tried to do right by him and please him it was never good enough. In Feb. `89, he got severely pissed at me for SOME reason, maybe I wasn't breathing the right way, who knows? And he had another raging fit and kicked me out of the house. The first night, I stayed at my singer's house. The next night, I stayed across the street from there at a friend's house. I'd heard that a new XTC album was coming out that day and walked a couple miles over to a record store that was having a kind of premier party for it. I know I bought a copy but I don't remember when. Maybe a week later. This particular song was on the album and after another of his hissy fits a few months later, I decided to copy down the lyrics to it in my own handwriting and leave it on the kitchen table over night as if I'd forgotten to take it to my room when I went to bed. As planned, dad saw it and read it and then hung it on the fridge and, ever since then, the yelling and fits stopped!! In `06, when he died, I played this song at his funeral and cried through most of the event! I can barely listen to the song now without crying.

"Miner's Lullaby" by my deceased friend, U. Utah Phillips, really gets to me. I can't believe that he's been gone for almost 17 years now. He was a remarkable man.

He was a great story teller and prolific song writer. He had a great sense of humor but also wrote some very touching songs. His music has been covered by many artists.

An Icelandic song: stúlkan sem starir á hafið - the girl who stares at the ocean.

It's a story about this man who goes to this little fisherman's village for work and notices this girl who always stares at the ocean with big teary eyes as she's not a part of this world anymore. He asks those that go past who this woman is and is told that one night, the ocean had taken her man away and since then she's stood there all empty with no hope. The man ends up falling in love with the girl and as he realises he leaves town.

The song ends with the man leaving town after fishing season, but every time a boat is lost at sea, he'll be thinking about the girl with the big teary eyes, overlooking the ocean.

I avoid listening to this song sung by Hera in public because I am known to get teary eyes when I listen to it. Sorry about the length, I could just post the song itself but no one would understand a thing. 😅

The death scene of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. When Fantine starts singing midway through this clip it signifies Jean Valjean has passed and Fantine's spirit takes him to Heaven. It always makes me weep like a little b**** with a skinned knee. Because Jean Valjean's life was a story of salvation. The priest you see at the end of scene was the priest who was the catalyst for the change in Jean Valjean earlier in the movie. Because of the priest John Valjean turns from hate (even though he has every reason to keep hating after having been imprisoned for stealing food ONLY because he was starving). And as he says in this scene. When he raised Fantine's child (Cosette) after Fantine's death she taught him how to love.
