Do you think AI will help produce video games?

I was watching some videos on YouTube that showed characters from skyrim, and then AI would overhaul them to look almost photo realistic. Do you think eventually video games will look that way?

Sort of.

Most importantly, the subject of AI. As much as people want to voice their displeasure at AI being used to create (art), companies aren't going to be able to compete if they don't go this route themselves. Ideally, they will still create most original assets themselves and just use AI to enhance, fix, and otherwise speed up the process, but given the stereotypical ethics of entertainment companies, this is optimistic at best, and there are already (mostly phone) games that are completely made by AI from scratch.

As for photorealistic style, there are two problems. The first is that most big games are actually discouraged from leaning into this to begin with due to tech limitations of the consumer base. What's the point of making the best-looking game ever if only say 10% of gamers have a PC that can run it, and only a fraction of that number are even your target audience? When you've invested hundreds of millions of dollars into development, that's an unacceptable risk. The second problem is that the trend in gaming is to actually go the opposite direction to avoid the "uncanny valley" effect.
