I get what you're asking but I'll first say the answer in face value.
AI is a technology, something we created. It's not something we created from biological stuff, we created it in computers or non living things like metals.
Species is something related to biology. It has genes, it has nucleated cells within them and they fall under the five kingdom system. AI doesn't fall under either of them.
Now coming to what your thoughts were when asking the questions, you probably were thinking if AI will live a normal life like humans and just like a normal living being. Well, as far as my knowledge, AI only knows what we teach it. It doesn't know anything which we don't know. For them, if we don't know something, then that thing doesn't exist. They're not creative or have the motivation or patience to set out in journey of discovering something or inventing something.
Creativity is something which plays a hugs role not only in humanities, but also in STEM field. And as stem and sciences are something which we discovered, we are the one who know the system of this world (yet). AI is good at learning, not applying it's learned knowledge in real life application where it has never been done.
Let me give an example. Let's imagine a world, where rap music doesn't exist. We teach the AI to create pop music and other genres. Then it can create pop music by it's own. But since rap doesn't exists, it won't be able to create rap music. As it doesn't know what even rap is! It doesn't know about Eminem.
Now let me entertain you with the idea that how can ai compete with humans. Let's say a point will come when everything every human knows, is shared to AI at all times. All the new information loading into human brain is being constantly being shared with AI, then maybe ai can be as wise as us, but we'll always be the first one to know that information. It can be equal to us in this sense but it can never come before us. So technically, it can be more intelligent than most species in the world! And if we judge species on the basis of their intelligence and IQ, then AI might be the second more intelligent spieces on Earth after us!
Anyways, this is all out of the brain of a 16 year old who is a STEM student and loves imagining about different scenarios. I enjoyed thinking about this topic and writing my views so thanks a lot for posting this question. My answer may be wrong but it might give you a new perspective to look things from. These are just my insights and if someone wants to add or correct me, then feel free to do that! I'm actually curious about this topic.
"Ai" is nothing more then a marketing gimmick. I've seen rice cookers that claim to have Ai for it's auto features. Chat GPT is just a bunch of big brained math problems and a random number generator. Don't get me wrong what they've managed to pull off is impressive, but it's not "Artificial intelligence", and I don't think it ever will be.
Right now we have too many people playing God you have Elon musk who wants to start putting chips in baby's brains to teach them how to be an empath and feel things deeper and see things
Then you have scientists that want to make cavemen clone them bring them back
Then you have ai making pets butlers maids hookers dogs
Trump was mellow compared to all this crap that we're going to go through somebody needs to put a stop to it and then we have war on top of that headline directio
Then we have power outages headed our direction no food headed our direction our water is contaminated or out of petroleum products we're going downhill fast
I hope not.
So far the few times I have encountered it, I have not been impressed by it.
My phone has some version of it , and it will change what I type in a text to something totally different than what I wanted to say, and I usually don't notice it until after I send it.
very aggravating.

No, I don’t think so. See, in order to make AI smart enough to survive on its own, humanity needs to be capable of creating a copy of their own brain and all of its intricate facets into a computer. We are not capable of doing this, so we will never make an AI that is smarter than we program it to be.
We would have to adjust the definition of species, but if you’re asking if it’ll become self aware and consider that the line between alive and not alive than we have already flirted with that edge but not crossed it as far as I’m aware. Though the former lead programmer from google believed it already happened and google killed it.
No because thats not what speciation is.
Speciation is when a lifeform becomes different enough that it can no longer reproduce with the group it stemmed from, and even that definition only works well with animals, since things like cross pollenating plants (as well as viruses) exist.
AI is just a complicated machine, its not alive.
Nope. Not even close. You've been watching too much Star Trek.
AI isn't up to much right now, when it develops to AGI is when we can start getting the conversation going.
No, i really think that all the hype concerning AI is being overblown. It will be a long time before the technology matures enough where an AI construct will be able to have rational thought.
When the big debate of what constitutes being alive in response to Ai and robots, this will be the biggest “ I gotcha” in history. Because we are going to also revisit abortion.
They already are! And they are a BIG pain in my ass!!
Our maker is God 'Allah'. Their maker is us.. not comparable.
So absolutely not possible. re-state//background_color_rgba (0, 0, 0, 0), font_color_rgb (77, 77, 77), justifyLeft
I don't think so, it won't happen in my life
Like the machine life forms Adam and Eve from NieR?

I hope it will...
Yes and no. Once AGI is created it will improve itself and create other versions. Except AI, as a species, will be more of a collection of variants.
Nah I think humans will probably destroy them before they even try such a thing
Nope it’s just a man-made human toy that they programmed they have no existence they don’t matter
Then humanity should feel complete about playing god. We created something in our image.
Most likely. I mean Elon Musk is already making robots so 🤷♀️
AI itself, probably not. Sex bots maybe. Although people identify as many things. I guess someone could identify as AI. What do you think?
Nope.
It's LLM machine learning. It isn't artificially intelligent.
A new species? No. AI cannot survive without human control
No, because species are biological.
Species no... workers, yes..
In movies? Yes
What, an artificial species? No such thing.
it's possible. kinda scary
Yes, it's quite possible someday.
The future is coming, with its good and its bad.
Most likely
