Did anyone else find the new "Mission Impossible" disappointing?

I don't wanna spoil too much, but I found it too bullshitty and found the action boring and they spent too much time underwater and in the cold. The only part I found worth watching was the ending that was filmed in South Africa. The previous one had WAY better action and locations.

I haven't seen this, but it's a sequel. I think all sequels suffer from trying to top the previous movie, and that's usually the ultimate mission impossible.

How many MIs are there? Seven? The writers have to come up with something unique, again, using the same people who are NOW 29 years older (Cruise started this at 33), and with writers, new or old. Stunts are difficult to do well and are dangerous.

How many new ways can you blow something up and not blow up stunt people or the nearby stars? How many fresh plots?

If you like the MIs, try to realize how hard all of this is AND how expensive. Franchises can't hit the heights all the time. AND it also has to do with what you like about the MIs.

I've seen one or two, and they're good, but this isn't Shakespeare with bombs and breakins. Give the franchise a break! And 62 year old Tom!

The first one is actually not a bad movie. Tom Cruise is a rotten Scientology poster boy bastard, but also a good actor, as painful as it is to acknowledge it.

He is a good actor. I can't take that away from him, but I've never liked any of his movies except for Interview with a Vampire. I'm sure MI 1 is good but I'm not an action buff like I am a sci-fi and fantasy buff.

@DryGermanGuy I thought the first one was dull. That being said, I have to agree with you, that his personal life aside, he's actually a really talented actor. "A Few Good Man" is what did it for me. Then one day I randomly decided to watch "Ghost Protocal" and I was like, "these are actually really good". I still prefer Bond though

Cruise was excellent in "A Few Good Men" - his scenes with Jack Nicholson made that movie. Amazing acting.

Umm... well... uh... I've found all the Mission Impossible movies to be horrible. They suck. Formulaic action movies. Blow shit up for 2+ hours. Lame attempts at humor. ZZZzzzzzzzzzzz.

I only watched the first movie many times and loved it and I've seen the second movie... But after that for one reason or another, I couldn't watch any of the movie and was thinking of binge-watching rest of the movies before going to theatre to watch the last. Thank you. After reading this, I've changed my mind about going to watch it on the big screen.
