Yes, but my boyhood had such comic strips as "Blondie," "Terry And The Pirates" and my favourite,"Dogpatch," based on Arkansas, and with buxom blonde Daisy Mae, who were she a real broad, I'd have been prohibited from clubbing due to Jim Crow laws forbidding interracial love partnerships.
