Everyone has heard of these books. I was in third grade when I picked up "Journey to the Center of the Earth", before I even knew what a classic it was or who Jules Verne was, and OMG, that book blew my fucking mind! I'd never read anything like it before. When my teacher saw that I wasn't gonna finish it, he gifted it to me.
"Mysterious Island" was huge and like 700 fucking pages long and I read it.
"Around the World in 80 Days", oh my fucking God! Talk about a book that keeps you on the fucking edge of your sheet.
The only one I've read I couldn't get into was 20,000 Leagues, but I admire and respect it as a classic.
He fucking wrote a book about space travel in a time when people weren't even thinking about such a concept.
He was so ahead of his time! He wrote of technology and concepts that didn't exist yet, fuck! Absolutely amazing man! There are other classic novels and authors, but nothing compares to Verne. Maybe Polish author Alfred Szklarski.
Michael Palin did his own around the world in 80 days. I don't know of anyone trying to copy someone else's novels.
No disrespect to other iconic authors, but the guy's a fucking legend and icon! A fucking pioneer! No one will ever write books like that again.
