I very much enjoy horror movies and picking them apart for their deeper themes. Horror movies famously depict the best societal criticisms alongside displaying society’s greatest current fears. The Smile series is one great example, considering the themes are heavily based around psychological trauma and the inability to stop it from happening to not just yourself, but inflicting it on others. Hereditary is also a great horror at depicting generational trauma in a supernatural manner.
If you call them uncreative, you’re just not looking close enough lol

Good horror movies are rare these days, and they rarely come out of the mainstream. I love horror movies, but there is not much post-1985 that I like.
