People over 40, do you still download or find new music and new artists?

I think both of my parents stopped listening to new music when they were in their twenties, based on what they listened to when I was growing up, but I love finding a new band, and new genres etc. How about you? Are you under 40? How about the people you know over 40 then?

I discover new artists in one of three ways:

1. They are newsworthy, so I check them out.

2. I hear them on the radio.

3. They pop up in my YouTube feed.

I don't buy music anymore, but I do pay for Sirius XM Premium and YouTube Premium, so I often listen to them.

With Sirius XM, I often listen to Chill or Spa and discovered quite a few artists and songs that way. I often have to take a picture of my car's display which is listing the artist and song so I can look them up later.

However, we have an Amazon Echo Dot and a Google Home Hub, so I might request a specific radio station although that is rare now.

I used to listen to a website called Live365 and I discovered quite a few artists that way. Also, a radio show on NPR called "Hearts of Space" which led me to a site called CDBaby where I then discovered other artists.

Sirius XM used to carry CBC3 and that was a good way to learn about Canadian artists. Sirius XM dropped CBC3 and also Electric Area, another good station for learning about House and Trance.

Many of my friends over 40 are active in seeking out new bands and genres. Platforms like Spotify and YouTube make it easy to explore and stay updated. Music festivals and live concerts also offer great opportunities to experience new sounds. People often continue to enjoy the thrill of discovering fresh tunes throughout their lives. 🎶✨
