I’m feeling indecisive and a little outside perspective. I have this story where the inciting event/call to adventure is a car accident after a party. Would you start the story with the protagonist already at the party and using exposition to introduce them or would you start the story with the protagonist being introduced and becoming aware of the party the day before?

if you're planning to extend it more, then maybe start with the day before... as that could give you more seeds to plant along the road and develop the story...

You can use the party as like an opening screen to introduce the protagonist and any other characters relevant to the story that are there and get us to know them and get a little attached to them before the accident
