I understand the meaning of the song. To me, it has depth to it.
She's always loved someone who she hasn't met yet. Like she knows that someday she will find this certain man, the one who she always knew that she would love because she's always loved him. She just hadn't met him yet.

She doesn't want him to be afraid of her loving him because she already knows that it's like loving him because she always has in her thoughts and her dreams.

He's her dream man that she has always loved.

I mean, most of us know what type of person that we want to fall in love with. That's no secret.

I had always wanted a man who loved me and I loved him back equally. We would have fun and lots of laughter. He would look at certain way, act a certain way, and she's been in love with the ideal of him. She will know him and love him when she finally finds him one day. She has waited for him all of her life.

I knew right away when I met my late boyfriend that he was the one who I had always dreamed of finding and loving. I even told him it was like I had lost him, and finally found him. Because he was the man who I had loved in my dreams and in my mind. I just hadn't found him yet. But when we finally did meet, I knew that I had finally found the man who I had loved in my dreams.
