The Oscars will be held soon. Are there any movies you have seen that you think believe to win awards?

I just saw Frankenstein, and I can see why it's been nominated for Best Picture. It is the best Frankenstein I have ever seen. The rest I've seen clips of, and only one looks good something called Sentimental Value and Hamnet. Both are worthy, but we shall see. I'd have to watch them entirely to see what they're really about.

I think that after watching Sinners, I feel it's going to be the winner for best screenplay as well as picture of the year. Close second is Frankenstein. Just my guess.

I really don't care for awards that much, actually... not at all, lol

but I am not into cinema like that... I really don't know much about the art of these so to me, it doesn't make that much of a difference

movies to me, are just entertainment lol... and either I like them for any or whatever reason, or I just meh...

I've been hearing about Sinners and awards for months, I also heard about the movie before it came out, and I was kind of looking forward to it and when I finally watched it... it was just not up to the hype

to me, of course... it wasn't a good movie, it didn't keep me interested or engaged and the ending was nothing worth of a "damn this was good"

I don't think it was a bad movie, it was just a "meh" movie

but a lot of people keep talking about the hype, the awards, the "record-breaking" nominations and this "art and craft" but... I just don't see it because I'm not into that lmao

at the end of the day... the Oscars are just marketing

Sometimes you have to watch a movie that hits close to home, to appreciate it. you have to look at symbols, real meaning, going through what a character in a movie is going through and completely understanding them in order to appreciate it. For example, if you were African American, or another minority that was treated unfairly, you would like a movie (or a series that was made) based on real events called "When They See Us". Did you ever see it? It was on TV some years ago. It was based on the true story of the "Central Park 5" . https://www.bbc.com/news/newsbeat-48609693 This was so good, and so sad to me.

I've seen dozens upon dozes of "racial injustice" movies, yes... and I know about the meaning of all this

but still, there's good movies and bad movies (perception of course) so I am not talking about the symbolism but the movie itself, and the direction of the story

story wise... it is a very bland story, the acting was subpar to me... I honestly can't remember any scene or moment in which I "forgot" I was watching a movie because I was so into it, lol

Irish dancing vampires... was funny to me

but, it was also my own assumptions and impression... I really thought it was going to be a fun, bad-ass movie with a lot of action and witty dialogue, sort of like any Tarantino movie

and then... it wasn't, lol

I just began the movie Sinners on Google TV, and I am about one hour into the film. I have to say, I had to stop watching it now, because it scared the living daylight out of me, and I want to be able to sleep tonight. I am up to the part where those 3 people who look as though they might be either zombies or vampires, as you said, are playing outside the place where they had the barn dance, and the woman who is the ex girlfriend comes out to listen to them. I couldn't watch the rest, but I will tomorrow during the day. It is that frightening me.

I just didn't enjoy the movie nor the acting...

usually, the one thing I enjoy the most in movies is the acting, and I honestly don't have any memorable scene or interpretation coming from this movie but, like I said... I'm not really into the "filming arts" lol

I had a gift card to the new cinema in my town. There was not a single movie I thought that was good enough that I wanted to go see it. I did want to see this movie but it was not being shown there. I saw saw it on one of the streaming channels and I thought it was pretty good. It will not win any awards but I liked it.

That was the story of Bob Dylan. I grew up with his music and my older cousin would buy his records. After I saw that movie, I appreciated watching old Bob Dylan Youtube videos, when he first came out. He is a cool guy.

Yes, I have a few Dylan albums and I had tickets to see him and Willie Nelson perform but I could not go so I gave the tickets to my son.
I always found it interesting that Dylan and Johnny Cash were such good friends.

Oh ok. Yeah I saw that last year too. But I still think Frankenstein was better and more worthy of winning the Oscars for best movie. But that's just me. I was really moved by it.

I’m so excited for this Oscars too 😍 Frankenstein is stunning, right? The production design and performance work are insane, it totally deserves its Best Picture buzz.

Sentimental Value feels like classic Academy bait in a good way, very emotional and character-driven. Hamnet has that “prestige literary adaptation” vibe with gorgeous visuals. I could see Frankenstein taking technical awards plus maybe acting, and Hamnet sneaking in for screenplay or costumes. 🎬🏆

I saw it, and it was more than just a horror movie! If you look at it carefully It's full of history and symbolism. Jim Crow, segregation , and Black exploitation are all in it. The way they worked this into the film is interesting. Those vampires you see possibly represent the Whites who are feeding on Blacks and bringing them down, forever. I think it should have won best picture.
