I don't know if this would be considered an Irish film because it is a 2015 American-made film that partly takes place in Ireland and stars American-born Irish actress Saoirse Ronan: "Brooklyn"

"Brooklyn" is a love story that takes place in the early 1950s in the NYC borough of Brooklyn and in Ireland. In "Brooklyn", Saoirse Ronan plays Irish immigrant Eilis Lacey who is the central character.
The film begins in Ireland, but then she emigrates to America living in Brooklyn.
It then tells of her challenges in Brooklyn and how she gradually adjusted.
She then has to go back to Ireland for an extended period, but then she finally returns to Brooklyn which, to her, is now home.

The film had 3 Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and Best Actress.
This is an excellent film and I was surprised at how good it was especially at conveying the strength of real love.

I gotta admit, I tear-up thinking about this film which I have only seen once but would happily see a few more times.

One of my all time favorite movies is The Quiet Man. Super entertaining, great cast.

Darby O'Gill and the Little People is really fun. Young Sean Connery, leprechauns, a banshee, ...

    The Secret of Roan Inish.

    Ondine.

    Barry Lyndon.

    Michael Colllins.

One of my favourites, if you're into animated movies, is "Song of the Sea" (2014). It is fantastic! It is considered "one of the most blissfully beautiful animated films ever made" according to Rotten Tomatoes. I highly recommend.

  • If your taste is all over the place, Irish cinema is perfect for you 😌🍀

For emotional drama: “In the Name of the Father,” “Brooklyn,” “Belfast.”
For dark comedy: “The Guard,” “In Bruges,” “The Banshees of Inisherin.”
For coming-of-age/music vibes: “Sing Street,” “Once.”
For crime and grit: “Michael Collins,” “’71,” “Calvary.”

Amazing mix of tones, all very Irish. 🎬💚
