Being a cyclist that doesn't like getting wet, a blue sky is my favorite color.

But my second favorite color for the sky is red.

There is a saying red sky at night is a shepherds delight for nice weather the next day.

But the saying also states a red sky in the morning is a shepherds warning for bad weather later in the day.

With red and blue skies I know the weather to expect and prepare for to keep dry, though I would like to see a green and purple sky with the Aurora Borealis because this would probably mean dry weather too.

Well it's pretty hard to run an experiment where you randomly allocate humans to worlds with different sky colours so we are pretty much just left to make up whatever explanation we like for why people like blue. Much like the rest of psychology...

It could be because some people want to deal with the mind as if it was a truly observable concept, the brain is certainly observable, but the mind, not really. So it's complicated.

And that's related to what I'm saying, the mind is not a scientific notion, yet it is the idea studied by psychology, there's no possibility to deal with the topic like it's maths. The reach of psychology is about speculative ideas on the research side, with clinical observations on the practical side, and that's it.

It's hard to tell. Having sat 1/3 of a psychology degree and bumped around the halls, the level of numeracy of academic psychologists is generally about that of a 5th grader.

My recollection is that MIT's Psych 101 is taught as neuroscience. That's probably the path to at least minimal enlightenment instead of filling journals with masturbatory hallucinations for the sole purpose of gaining tenure.
