Are themed birthday parties fun or just annoying, and what ideas work best?

Are they fun or irritating?

My 20th was a “death to my teens” party so everyone wore black.
My 21st was not themed and I don’t know what to do with my 22nd.

if you do enjoy them, what are some ideas?

Love the themes and fits🖤 I used to always be that person to think what others would like (still working on this lol), but it’s your birthday and most importantly is doing what you want:)

Barbie will be pretty in pink theme

Themed parties are very fun. I love planning an outfit to wear. I think simple and realistic ideas work best. Ideas where it’s easy for people to participate and that are inclusive.

I like Neon and Glow parties , Favorite Color and Sports themes.

Simple but they work.

Yeah I think easy to participate themes are best. Thats kinda why I went for “death to my teens” a few years back because all everyone had to do is wear black.
I also do love a neon or glow party.
I went to one before that was dress as your idol and I didn’t know what to do so I dressed as posh spice which was pretty basic aha

I just enjoy being honored and don’t wanna put any labels on it and have any dress code. Just come as you are. One time for my birthday I was going on a vacation and the whole entire plane singed happy birthday to me. I thought that was great.😊

For your 22nd, you could do:
A “Taylor Swift 22” vibe, glitter and red lipstick.
“22 and Fabulous” with pink, feathers, photo corner.
“Favorite movie characters” or “Y2K nostalgia” so people can be comfy but creative. 🎬✨

It depends on who’s planning the party and what it’s for. The one you mentioned is a theme I’ve never heard of before, and the picture you show tells me the party theme was less about fun, and more about raising up the people you feel deserve attention alongside yourself

I just thought the theme was easy for people to participate in as everyone has something black they can wear so it’s not too stressful for guests. I really enjoyed it and everyone went all out which I wasn’t expecting aha

They can be fun, just depends on what the theme is and if it’s something you like as well, . The last theme birthday party I went to was, we had to dress up as and 80’s rapper or hip hop star , so I ended up dressing up as the white version of Shock G from Digital Underground the Humoty Dance 😊

I love celebrating my birthday! I couldn’t imagine not even if it’s like my 19th which was in spain with my family. I didn’t go out or do anything with friends but my mum laid food out and we had a traditional Spanish birthday. I think it doesn’t matter if you party as long as you enjoy it

I’ve never been to a themed birthday party. My friends are mostly white trash and don’t usually spend that kind of money on birthday parties. My friend had a themed wedding and I was the stick in the mud who wore regular clothes, though
