Why do people hate on remakes and remasters of old games?

People hating on remakes or remasters or rereleases on modern consoles!! BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE THAT WERENT EVEN BORN YET OR TOO YOUNG TO PLAY THOSE GAMES WHEN THEY ORIGINALLY RELEASED? LIKE..:

I game on PC. I don't neccesarily hate remasters, they can be good they can be pointless. Sometimes the original game works fine and is better. If you try to play Doom 3 it will run fine and it has graphics mods that make it look better than the remaster. If you play Doom 3 BFG they tampered with the game in really bad ways.

There are also remasters where the game is better than the original and those make more sense.

But I assume you are a console player if missing out on the game is an issue for you. We just run the old games whenever we feel like. I love older games and most of them work on Windows 10 just fine. The ones that dont you can emulate.

If you never played the original how tf would you know what changed. And the experience and nostalgia can be non existent

Final Fantasy 7 is on my shitlist for this. The original game was on 3 disks, had a wonderful story and managed to fit it all into one game.

The remakes are charging full price for sections of the game where they changed how combat worked, and added way more to the story than needed to be added. It was a massive let down. They had gold with that one and turned it to shit.

I played and still own the original FF7 when it first came out. Same for Re2 and 3 for that matter.

For those who haven't though, I guess they will never know the real magic of those games. Remakes are barely ever better than the originals.

@Ez-Bri-Z_v2 Plus I know damn well the original resident evil 3 couldn't be beat in 4 hours. Graphics look great, but JFC the game is short.

Yeah, it became too "actiony" for me which is what they kind of did in most of their new remakes. I will say though, even though i haven't been a fan since like Code Veronica, I watched a playthrough of Requiem and that looked like a great game

I never played the originals.

And for example people complaining star fox 64 and ocarina of time are getting remade despite already been remade having a 3DS version. With the N64.

But what about people like me who never played the originals because they weren’t born yet or too young

I mean, it's fine I guess if you've never played before but for those of us who have it's not always a welcome change. Why remained something that wasn't broke? Just updated graphics and such. Dont change too much and you make everyone happy

A lot of the hate is really about nostalgia and fear of change 😅

Older players remember the “magic” of the original and worry a remake will change the tone, simplify the gameplay, or add microtransactions. Some also feel companies are lazy, just reselling old content instead of making new IPs.

But remakes and remasters are great for preservation and for younger players like you to discover classics. Honestly, both can exist: keep the original, and let remakes bring them to new audiences 💿🎮✨
