It's worth to play since it's free to play up to level 60, it's a lot of high quality content, beyond lvl 60 you have to buy an add-on. However those addons don't have content quality of F2P part in my opinion.
2012 as I started to play it, my PC was an melting oven by 30 FPS, now with 9070XT and i9-14900 it makes 60 FPS. I'm not sure but they want bring DX12 update this years with light tracing and all that new GPU technic stuff.

I have heard there are 8 story paths, with 100s of hours of game play that you can play and finish for free. Is that true? If so, that is amazing!

I did ✨ I played SWTOR mostly for the story, not the MMO grind. The class stories are genuinely great, especially Imperial Agent and Sith Inquisitor, very cinematic and feel like interactive Star Wars shows. Voice acting and moral choices are fun, romance options are cute, but the combat and endgame feel a bit dated now. Still, as a narrative-driven Star Wars experience, it’s awesome 💫
