What is your favourite war movie/series?

Band of Brothers for me. The Pacific sucked. Masters of the Air was even worse.

• Band Of Brothers was very well done with high production standards.
• Saving Private Ryan was an excellent non glorified look at war.
• Schindler's list is a window into the disgusting side of war away from the front lines.
• Sophie's choice is a bare knuckles look at the human cost to civilians.
• Catch 22 is a great look at the insanity of war. Joseph Heller nailed it. His non linear timeline conveys the confusion and feeling of helplessness people experience in combat. Heller lived it. He flew 60 combat missions as a bombardier on B25's beginning at age 19. Including nonsensical "milk run" missions that had no military value. If you haven't read the book, read it.

Never heard of Masters of the Air but it sounds like a weak title anyway.

There is one but it is mostly partly to where I live. It was based on my town and specifically this town.

I won't say thr dame out of my own privacy. Good thing is that almost all of the show was filmed and based elsewhere.

@ManOnFire no it was actually a very popular TV series. The funny thing is that less than 10% was filmed here.

It was because of tax reasons. So they only shot opening shots, landscapes, and a few landmarks.

Band of Brothers is such a masterpiece, totally with you on that one 🎖️ The character development and emotional weight are insane.

For me, my favorites are Saving Private Ryan, Das Boot, Letters from Iwo Jima, and 1917. For series, Generation Kill is underrated, and Chernobyl (not a war show technically, but has that same grim, intense energy) really hit me hard.

To hell and back, since it's a true story acted by the person who was in it in real life. A little sappy and cheesy, but that was film in that time.

Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, Tears Of The Sun, Fury, there are many. Perhaps Apocalypse Now but it is pretty weird in spots. Ken Burns Civil War documentary is excellent.

The Bridge on the River Kwai is my all time favourite war movie (WW2 specifically). I love the British Pacific theatre point of view, which isn't that common in WW2 movies/shows.

My favorite war movies are like Troy, Alexander things of that nature

Troy is great but I don't consider it a war movie since in my mind war movies are based pretty closely on history, and Troy is mostly based on mythology.
