What are some of the reasons why you personally listen to music?

So many reasons...

It calms me down in some scenarios.

It energizes and hypes me in other scenarios.

It matches my melancholic vibe sometimes.

When I'm angry, sometimes I'll play some metal, and it'll fuel my "It's me against the world" vibe.

Sometimes I'll listen to songs that make me nostalgic.

I listen to classical sometimes and can basically envision a movie in my head going on, and sometimes classical music makes you feel epic in whatever you're doing (even chores like doing the dishes or sweeping/vacuuming😂) .

I listen to lofi sometimes to get in a focus mode when I'm working.

I listen to indie/folk, reggae, or lofi to relax.

I love latin music when I'm trying to feel the energy and get me moving. It also pairs great with booze.

And so so much more

I've been collecting records since I was 2 years old and have over 62,000 of them, now. The collection spans at least the past 120-some years. Dad was heavily into music. Music and records have always been my closest, and quite often, my ONLY friends!! No matter how I felt, I could always retreat into music or get my aggressions out with a good long bash on the drums!!

Music is like a mood remote control for me 🎧
I listen when I paint or draw because it helps me get into a creative flow. Film scores and anime soundtracks especially make my imagination explode. I also use music to regulate emotions: calm playlists for anxiety, dance tracks to shake off sadness, and nostalgic songs from movies or concerts to feel connected and inspired.

i personally listen to music because my job 24 hours a day is to listen to music and make music and make music better and make music commercial. and that comes from years and years of listening to music (and making music, however banal), all the time

I've always loved it. It kind of gave me something to hold on to when the world was overwhelming to just block out all the sound and people talking, judging, expecting etc. As I got older I had to deal with life and My favorite festival didn't have the lineups I wanted to see anymore and I felt like maybe this time in my life was kind of coming to an end. I was still listening to music just on youtube. But then I went to this concert with some friends we were actually outside the stadium but you heard everything so well and then the rain came at Where d'you go/ waiting for the end. It went on for half an hour I got soaked I had to put my shoes in the laundry room for 3 days to dry. Then they continued the concert. It was an amazing experience I felt so much joy again. I rediscovered my love in a way. This moment was definitely the one that stood out. It just fit so well the sad song of where d'you go was where the first drops fell and then it came down like crazy.
